Hi ladies! Wonder if anyone can explain to me why I have to have my gel nails removed for my breast enlargement operation? Really can’t understand how false nails will interfere with the procedure! I know it seems a bit shallow and cosmetic, but I am getting a boob job – so there it is!!!

A monitor is clipped to your finger to measure heart rate and oxygen levels whilst under

the GA. They can’t take a risk that your falsies will interfere

with the readings or even fall off.

You can”t wear false eyelashes, wear make up, moisturiser, fake

    tan, nail varnish or jewellery.

They need to keep an eye on oxygen levels or something, plus they take ur blood pressure n put that thing on ur finger constantly so u need to have natural nails hun x

Boo! Looks like I’ll have to get over myself -ha ha. Thanks for the info. I’m sure the lack of elegantly manicured nails won’t take away from my excitement in getting my new voluptuous figure! Can’t wait.

Trust me after your ba you won’t be concerned about the length of your nails lol good luck xx

Also under your nail contains more bacteria then on an average toilet seat, and false nails harbour more :( xx

It’s nothing to do with bacteria, ect it’s purely because they need to check the colour of your nail bed. That’s all. The colour of your nail bed, which includes something called cap refill is a good indicator of your oxygenation.

I have semi permanent eyelashes and I didn’t take them off either. Im a midwife and work in theatre
