Hi girls, is it normal for your surgeon not to mention the type of implant you’ll be having? I’ve only just noticed from a boobie bible post about all the different kinds!

I had my consultation with Dr Traynor at Manchester a week ago when he decided I would have either 300, 340 or 380 overs to take me to approximately a D (I’m a 32B now).

Looking back, maybe I should’ve asked him? Anyone else found this? Any help would be appreciated as I’m starting to now panic a little bit!xxx

They will be cui which are the standard implants, they won’t measure you for the natrelle range unless you specifically ask. I found my pc mentioned it when I first saw her but they didn’t really promote them, I decided to change a week before my op and had to be remeasured for them as the sizings are totally different x

Are the natrelle implants better than the CUI? I don’t have a clue about any of this xxx

give them a quick call and they’d be able to tell you from notes your surgeon has left xx

Okay will do, I’m guessing it must be the standard ones because of the price. But I’m not sure whether it’s high profile or low profile either xx

The CUI are the most commonly used in the UK, but are not approved in America which the natrelles are (FDA) but from what I can tell that’s solely to do with insufficient testing in the US and doesn’t mean the implants are less safe.

Natrelles have a slightly thicker shell, which reduces their rupture rate, so they have a lifetime guarantee against rupture (this means if they do rupture they would replace implants for free and pay £700 towards the cost of a reop)

The natrelles have soft touch and responsive, the responsive are the softest implant, the soft touch are softer than the CUI’s but again from what I can tell from what other girls say the CUI’s soften up really well and there’s no difference (you’d need to actually compare them at consultation)

The natrelles are also supposed to have less chance of developing capsular contracture and the soft touch are supposed to give the best chance of developing rippling, but the amount of breast tissue and implant size also plays a part in this.

Catalogues will show you the difference in the sizings

That’s a huge help, thanks so much. I can’t believe I didn’t look into all this before I went to my consultation with him but I just assumed that they would give you all the different options to be honest. Nothing was mentioned about any other sort of implants so I thought they only did that type. I wonder if it’s too late now if I need to change my mind because I’ve sorted all my finance payments out and paid £500 of my deposit?xxx

I changed my mind and didn’t get them ordered until 6 days before my op, I had soft touch and they were £461 extra. I’m sure MYA will be accommodating, I had to change my op date, my surgeon and my implants and they were very helpful about all of that. And another consult with Mr T isn’t a bad thing from what I’ve heard either!!!

    good luck x

I went into the whole thing pretty clueless. Didnt talk about what kind if implant I would be having in my consultation with Mr Russo, but decided he was the expert and would use the implant he felt was the best for me. Talked about size and he talked about 260cc, 300cc and 340cc, decided I didn’t want 260cc but left the final decision to Mr Russo as he is a perfectionist and trusted him to use the most appropriate size to fit my frame. Came out with 335cc in the right, 325cc in the left, naturelle, inspira, textured responsive full responsive’s and liking them so far :) Xx

Nicdev1 that’s the same as me, I thought I’d just trust his judgement really which I think I might stick with now because of how experienced Mr T is and from what I’ve read about him on this forum.

Are you happy with your size? That’s the same sort of size I’m looking at too, either a 300 or 340 xxx

Yeah I’m happy, although I’m only 9 days post op and hoping they don’t shrink anymore (that might just be boob greed though- I’ve heard a lit of the girls talk about that!). I’ll accept you now so you can have a look at my pics, I had an uplift too tho Xx

It can be overwhelming in the consultation especially when the surgeon is handsome- Mario Russo- didn’t tell me what sizes he was planning for me. We talked a lot but I left feeling immense trust and from that point I didn’t know much just that I was in safe hands. As long as you and your surgeon are on the same wavelength about what you hope to achieve I wd say the main decisions are made you can always ask for another visit xxxx

Thanks hun, that was exactly it with Dr Traynor. He just seemed to know straight away what was best for me so I didn’t feel like I needed to question it too much. He knows what size I’m after and that I want a natural look xxx
