Nose Girls – Advice Please!

Stressing slightly as my op is in four weeks and im still confused about what i want my nose to look like even after ive had my second consultation today!

As im having closed rhino im worried that the slight change in the length of my tip (mr g said max 2mm) will not be enough.. he said if i want anymore off i will have to have an open op.. so im considering changing but part of me thinks am i just thinking too much into it as when i went into this i didnt want a dramatic change which is why mr g decided on closed as everything i had originally asked for will be acheiveable!

Have any closed girls felt that they wish they had more off the tip after the op? I really dont want to do this and only see a slight change and want a reop straight away!!

And is there anyone who asked for a slight slope as this is what i am having and i just want to see how much of a slope it is lol!

Hun mine was a slight slope. It looks straight at the moment from swelling but you can kind of see in my pics from when the cast came off.

I had open and still think my tip is too big but everyone is different xxx

It is a rollercoaster of emotions dealing with the fluctuation of swelling honey,I think you should speak to your surgeon again,be sure you have explained exactly what you want,if you think that closed surgery is not going to give you the changes you want to see,he has told you how much he can take off with closed surgery honey,you are saying you are not sure this is enough,so if you do ahead and you are not happy,you cant really expect a re op for free,as you were given the options of both surgeries and told the difference they can make,speak to your surgeon lovely this is the middle of your face you need to be sure.xxx

Thought we were friends but it said we werent. I had exactly the same dilema as I was having closed until I went to my second consultation

I reay wanted open as I convinced myself he wouldn’t be able to give me a small nose with closed, having said this hingsy, caroline and I think sof all had closed and their noses look amazing.

For me I knew I wanted it as small as it coukd possibly be, so I pushed for open, I’m 100% glad I did. The only 1 thing Id say is like Tina said its your face you have to be sure what you want. Your paying a lot I money for it, and unless there was something noticeably wrong with ur nose you’d have to pay for a revision which is like 6k or something. You have to be certain.

I think also no matter what we get we always think ‘Oh I wish it was a bit smaller’ like you read about boobie greed on here all the time, its just human nature to want more than you have, and we’re so use to thinking our noses are big that t takes a while to realise they aren’t anymore.

As I said before I still think mines big, whether or not it’s swelling I don’t know, I think it probably is. Just look at some girls pics on here and maybe pick one or two favourites and see if they had open or closed, that may give you an idea. I know how hard it is as I spent weeks googling open vs closed and then set my mind in open

i had closed!(well remembered georgia lol) I was in exactly the same dilema. I originally didnt even mind the tip of my nose but i was worried that although it looked ok with my old nose, it would look too bulky on my new nose. I was also worried that once the bump was gone, itd look straight but look too long! I also wanted a slight slope at frist but Dr G said that if he did do that it may make my tip look a bit more bulbus and he would have to do the op open to reduce the tip which may then not look as natural as if i had it done straight and taking a bit off the tip. He was right, my nose is so natural that even people who have known me for years dont notice until i turn to the side.

I totally agree with georgia, i still look at mine and think its big, i still am not 100% about photos of my front on but deep down, i know this is the swelling. When i see photos of me from the side, i cant quite beleive its me cos it does look small, its just ur sooo used to critising it that deep down, its never going to be perfect.

Dr G knows what hes talking about. I know its hard becasue the decision to have open or closed is up to you and as we are not experts how are we to know. Im happy with my nose. Its not perfect but thats cos the of the swelling and the fact ill have to train myself to stop looking at it and being so critical! Its ur choice at the end of the day. Im happy I chose closed, i know Caz and Hingsy are too, but on the other side of the fence is hmariez who had closed and i think she wished she had open to reduce her tip, though i think everyone will agree she looks gorgeous with her nose she has. xxxxxxxx

I was first gonna have closed as well, as my only problem with my nose was the bump. But the more I thought about it, I was thinking if I get my bump taken out, I know I’ll start moaning about how long my tip looks compared to the rest! So after my third consultation! (Haha I know, ridiculous!) I asked him what his opinion was and if I should have it reduced more, and he said yeah he thought it would look nicer! To be honest now, I can’t even tell a difference how small it is compared to my old one, I don’t know whether it’s swelling or not but I’m guessing it will get smaller over the year! I also said I didn’t want much of a slope quite straight really, I didn’t want a button nose. But he said he won’t do anyone with a dead straight nose, there’s always gona be a slight slope!… How’s the swelling going anyway for the rest of you girls???!! Xx

My swelling was horrific the other week, literally I looked like a lion cos I had such a bad cold but it’s totally gone down now so happy days. It’s still a bit too fat at the top I’m really hoping that’s just swelling ! My tip is slowly getting a bit more definition, that’s still swollen tho too lol. Does anyone else keep gettin fukd up dreams about their nose? Lol, I dreamed someone repeatedly punched me in the nose and it went really fat and swollen , was horrible! I keep having them! Xxx

Thanks for all your replies girlies… in two minds still but edging more towards open after reading all your posts and after georgia and naomi both saying you went for open after having similar worries to me, cos i really really dont want to still feel like its too big after… but im going to try and get a third consultation (glad you sed you had one naomi!) so i can tell Mr G how much i want off and he can decide whats best.. cos its driving me crazy! Im finding it so hard looking at my nose and deciding hw much i want off the tip! And its true what you say tina, if i aint happy after it will only be me to blame as i have been given the options… I still dont want a tiny nose, but i want it noticeably smaller!! I can imagine having the closed op and then with swelling and everything after feeling that it really aint that much smaller!!

Definitely have a third one layla if you’re worried. You’re paying them all this money, and it’s somethign that you’re gonna have to live with after forever, so if you have any more questions ask him before it’s too late!

Sof, my swelling is getting worse lol!! Glad urs is getting better, colds will always make it swell up! Tell me what he says to you when you go for your check up about it, what day are you going??! Xx

My swelling awful, iv got used to it now though so not that bothered.

I’m due for my check up at the end of the month, by then I’ll be 8 weeks so I hope everything is going normal as I’m worried the fattness at the top isn’t just swelling . It probs is but as I’m almost 7 weeks post op I would have thought this would have gone down quite a bit. Maybe it has and I’m just looking at it too much lol! Layla, all I’ll say is that it’s totally up to u what u want, everyone is different but I had closed and my over all size and tip is all in proportion, any smaller and it would prob be obvs I had a nose job lol, but he can reduce the size by doing it closed, worked for me but if u want more of ur tip doing ask him his views on u having

Have booked to Dr Gonschoir next tuesday for my third consultation lol!! so relieved iv got another appointment before my op!! cant wait to talk to him again and finally get this sorted cos its really stressing me out lol! Getting sooo excited now tho!!

Hey huni, Dr G is the expert…I was recommended a closed…sometimes i’m happy with the results, sometimes I hate them and wish i had an open. I have looked into getting a revision, but still undecided… operating a second time is more risky so its best to get it right first time round.

Also if you sit and stare at your nose all the time after the op like i was you will probably find fault. I have been really busy working this past few week so no time to focus on the nose and have found ive been quite happy with it. Also I had some really bad swelling after xmas and a new bump…but they all appear to have gone down…. yey!

My nose is still soooo dry and when i put foundation on my nose, it just looks pathetic

For the amount of money you are paying, have as many consultations as you feel is neccessary…

Thanks hun! Am still edging more towards open at the mo because i really wanna go through all this and be unhappy with the result and still feel my nose is too big.. And especially as i know the swelling is going to be bad for a while i can serioudly see it getting me down if i dont see much of a difference..

But you are right he is the expert.. so after i go on tuesday explain exactly what i want to him then whatever he decides ill stick with!

I’m getting rhinoplasty with Dr Russo on 10th April. (was booked for 2nd but he had to cancel

I was just reading through your posts & its made me a little more nervous about the whole ‘tip’ thing. Can i just ask, i know it makes me sound really stupid but by tip, do you mean the length of your nose? i hate the bump on mine and think its too long for my face but my nose itself is really thin looking from the front, it’s just too projected for my face. im having closed surgery as far as i know,so was just wanting some feedback from yous as to whether having closed op is gonna be able to achieve my desired results..

any answers would be great! friend requests welcome also xxx

Hiya hun! Yeh by the tip I meant how long the end of my nose was, not width but length if that makes sense! Im the same babe, just hate the bump and just the general size of it but actually like it from the front (even though mine is being thinned a little bit at the top) and i was originally told i could have closed.. but i thought about it and got worried that the tip will still look too long so went back and now im having open so I can have a little bit more off the tip!

With closed your surgeon can take a little bit off the length of you tip.. so it depends how much smaller you want it.
