Hey girls just wanted to know when you all started sleeping normally after your op? I have still been trying to sleep upright but wake up in the morning with my v-pillow on the floor and me on my side. Is it ok to sleep on your side as long as your nose isn’t mushed into the pillow or anything.
I don’t want to damage my nose but it’s impossible for me to stay on my back when sleeping. I just turn automatically in the night.
xxx
oioi, sending you pm on facebook ina bit! but nurse told me its ok after cast is off as long as i dont squash my nose xx
Okiiii doki, I’m just worrying its going to damage it. I keep waking up like oh f*** lol! Sleeping on your back sucks, is so uncomfy! xxx

I go to sleep upright, well not completely upright on 2 pillows and my vpillow but never wake up like it. Even when I had my cast on I kept waking up on my side.I know what you mean sof, I imagined after like 4 weeks if be completely normal and fine to go out etc but im defo no where near being normal and I’m 3 weeks. im really swollen as well, i understand how your feeling. Really testing my patience atm, how long po are you? xxx
Argh its insane, im now 4 weeks post op and the swelling is worse than last week and its throbbing etc and is now totally numb at the end, im just so fed up. Im not loving the shape and size at the moment, i know itll change im just being impatient. I kinda gathered about swelling and that but i guess by 4 weeks p/o id be well on the road to recovery but it just seems like ill be a long way off
x Hows u? xxxx
I started sleeping normal about 2 weeks post op as always ended up on my side even when had the cast on. Hope you all start to feel better soon… My tip is still numb and I’m about 3 and a half months post op xx
Yea I’m not sure I fully expected recovery to be like this to be honest. Bit late now though lol il just have to get over it and get on with it!
Has your tip always been numb or has it just become numb recently?
Yea me too, my nose looks really weird there’s almost a line half way down my nose where the swelling has gone down from the top but not the bottom, but hopefully if should keep moving down the nose.
In going to call the nurse on tues as I need to do something to sort out the pores on my nose immediately it looks disgusting, there must be something I can do, I’m going crazy my skin looks disgusting!!! xxx
I was told its fine to sleep on the side, as long as u dont squish the nose it doesnt do any damage. I hate the numb fuzzy feeling. If i was given a list of possible issues i may encounter over such along period of time, i would have seriously reconsidered lol xxx
Yea must admit didn’t know about half this stuff that we’d have to go through. Sucks big time
Ok il enjoy my nights sleep on my side tonight then
My tip isn’t numb so I’m Hope it won’t go numb. From one angle my nose still looks like it has a bump, don’t know if it’s swelling or what but its freaking me out!
xxx
Mine is ridiculously swollen, I’ll be 4 weeks po on thursday. An domg I’m the same I swear at some angles my nose looks bumpy still. I’m actually thinking atm was this a waste of money because I still feel like I hate my nose!! It must be the swelliing, when did the nurses say that the main swelling would go down? I think I remeber her saying around 6 weeks! But I can’t remember! xx
I thought that 90% of the swelling goes after 3 months then the rest over a year.
Yea from one angle I look like I have a big bump it looks fu**ed!!! It needs to hurry up and go, if it’s just what my nose I going to look like I will have to have it re-done. This is quite depressing, but I keep reminding myself I
Only 3 weeks po tomorrow. Feels like about 5 months ago now lol xxx
Lol honestly, i dunno what id do without this forum, from certain angles, mine still looks like i have a bump too!!! i thought that was just me!! and i went out the other night and had photos taken and im not loving it, it still looks like the old nose. if it doesnt shrink quite a bit id have to consider a revision, i am only 4 weeks p/o though so i know that sounds silly! Naomi u must be a week behind me, im 5 weeks p/o on thursday and im still really swollen, still fat at the bridge and a budlgy tip too not good. I heard 80% of the swelling goes down by 4 months? xxx

I am actually hoping that because there’s quite a few of us with the same problem… This is actually normal because I’m certain he couldn’t have left us all with a bump of whatever still lol!! I’m actually fine about my tip, even though it is swollen, because I can actually tell it is. It’s still rock hard and sensitive so I’m happy that I know this won’t look like this after a while. But my bridge just confuses me!! I’m gonna try and just not worry about this for another month because it should change by then I reckon! Xx
The bump is def the swelling, ive read it loads. xxx
yea thats the same with me.. looking in the mirror I cant see a bump (and trust me I stare at it a lot) but i went out thurs night and had photos taken and in one of them theres a big bump. Yea i agree i didnt think there would be so much swelling on the bridge, but I guess I had most work done on my bridge so it makes sense that it should be swollen.
Im going to add new pics and the bump picture now if you guys wanna see what im going on about xxx
have added them x
Yours actually looks fine, I think mine is slightly worse! We all probs think our noses look a lot worse than they are. As we are literally between 3 and 5 weeks po… We still obviously have so much swelling still. At the mya clinic one girl got it done, hated it at the start, 3 months she started to like it then at 6 months loved it. So our noses must look nothing like they will do by the end of the year! Just can’t deal with waitin anymore, I wana go out and not worry!!
Xx
I think it looks horrific, looks like a hook nose when I didnt even have that before, just a bump.
Im driving myself crazy… this is now my life for the next year, sitting by the mirror scrutinising my nose and having bad skin..fml!
Its a bit reassuring that more than one of us has this as I agree with what you said he wouldnt have left us all still with bumps.
xxx
I know that exactly what I’m doing just looking every 2 seconds to see if it’s gone down, so depressing when I don’t think it has! Honestly tho from what I’ve heard the most swelling should be gone in 2 months (as I’m already a month in). At least that’s a lot less than a year, and then little changes after! Think about it how quick has the past couple couple weeks have gne, should be over in no time!! Xxx
fingers crossed for all of us xxx
My tip has always felt numb, and still hasnt regained any feeling in it…i asked Dr G about that and he said it was normal.
I also have a bump still from one angle (also on photos) and i’m about 3 and a half months post op! I thought the majority of swelling would have gone by now so i’m scared and am seriously considering a revision. However My friend who had a nose job on nhs (not for cosmetic reasons, only to fix internal problems) was told that the swelling would last up to 2 years.
Georgia, your nose is gorgeous, I wouldnt worry too much, its not been long since your op (although it may feel it)…Still got a while for the swelling to go down. xxx
2 years!! but then I have read on the internet and seen pics when noses have changed well after the year mark…praying mine does not go on that long!
Im trying to not worry lol, I’v pretty much become obsessed with noses and anything to do with noses. I feel like Im constantly reading about rhinoplasty and looking at pics!! I’m going to end up a sad sad person with my laptop never leaving the house lol. xxxx
It is definitely swelling girls, mine looked perfect when the cast come off,I now have little lumps and bumps, also look like I have have been wearing glasses and they have left a mark,I have’nt touched my nose, the bridge is swollen and my eyes look like Ive been drunk for a month, Ive stopped looking in the mirror every five minutes,as this dose’nt help,I am not worried,I know the end result will be worth it,I really really hated my old nose, but I will love this one, give it a chance girls, good things come to those who wait, have faith in your surgeon,he will have completed hundreds of procedures, and if he is reading the forum,he will know that you have nothing to worry about.xxx
Hey girls
Honestly you are such early days to tell any result. I know how you mean about being obsessive and constantly checking for change…I was sending myself mental so had to make a conscious effort not to and it did help, despite being sooo hard not to keep staring at it.
I think we all have to remember the severity of the operation…like because it’s all relatively easy to opt for this kind of surgery and because there seems to be so many people doing it I think we can get blase about the realities of it all. When I watched the actual op on YouTube it really made me wake up and realise why I was sooo swollen.
Also, I know that I scrutinise my new nose 10 million times more than my old (and I despised my old nose) because we have spent a lot of money and time healing etc etc on our new nose and so want it to be absolutely perfect and therefore of course we are going to find faults. I think if I stared at Brad Pitt for long enough I could find fault
Patience is a virtue
