I still need to have my surgeon consultation but I want to go there with most of my questions already answered as I tend to forget to ask questions when I’m there and just nod along to whatever is being said.
1. Since I live in Newcastle I am quite far away from where I would be operated on so is their transport provided there and back and is it at an additional charge?
2. How painful is the procedure? I’ve heard a lot of different opinions so I have absolutely no idea how I will feel afterwards. I’m 18 so I hope that means that I have youth on my side How long will the pain last as well? Like when does it start to wear off?
3. Also, after the procedure do you have to sleep in a certain way as to not knock the bandages?
Thanks! I would really appreciate it if someone could take the time to answer my questions, would mean a lot.
Hi hun,
I had my nose done on the 9th Feb so currently 8 days post op… Do you know what surgeon your seeing seeing?? I had Dr Gosnchoir..
Im not sure on the transport thing as i live just outside london so havent had to worry about travel!
The procedure is not painful at all! I heard lots of things too and thought it was gonna be really bad but then after talking to the girls on here i was reassured it was not painful and it honestly hasnt been!! Worst parts are just that after the op you have a very sore throat for a while mine lasted about 5 days and your very bunged up (which i still am now) so just feels like you have a bad cold really! I was quite swollen and bruised after the op.. my sweling started going down about day 5 and i still have bruising… the swelling and bruising are different for different people though as it depends how you heal…
And yes you have to try and sleep sitting up for a while so you dont knock your nose and also to help the swelling go down!! I have found this really hard to do and normally wake up on my side!
Hope this helps hun!
xx
Hello! I live in sunderland so went with the Newcastle clinic. I was sent fo Preston. The first trust hospital. I was going down the day before with my mam and dad so didn’t need transportation as dad drove.
I feel the same as layla…Ive never been in pain but its just uncomfortable, its like having a blocked nose all the time. Also my face feels very stiff and swollen. I got mine done on Tuesday! I didn’t get much bruising which suprised me as I bruise easily…its actually very yellow now so hopefully going. Only thing what’s getting to me is the boredom. I’m really weary and crying for no reason. I don’t know how many dvds I’ve watched now!
Sleeping for me is ok actually…thought it would be worse…I always sleep on my front so trying to sleep propped up is quite hard. But to top it off I definately don’t think its as bad as I thought it would be. Good luck chuck Xx

Hi Summer
I’m now two weeks post op, open rhino, I’m also London so good old tube and friends to pick you up for me!
There really isn’t any pain, just a sore throat and it feels as though someone is holding your nose while the splint is on… And it is itchy x
Like Layla I had Mr G and he came highly recommended.
You have to go to bed propped up on your pillows but yes you end up in a heap by the morning.
I went back to work this week and the bruising was hardly noticeable just a bit of make up, but again everyone is different and yours might have gone by then (I’m 43, so using that as a bit excuse to be lazy!).
And like Ashley I got the blues on about day 4, so have chocolate on standby!
Good luck, and if you think of anything just shout xxx
