Hiya i was just wondering if anyone can help me. How much before the op date do you have to stop drinking alchohol? Iv heard a few different times and im getting a bit confusedd :S, also how long do you have to sleep upright for and prevent bending down?? Iv also heard pineapple is good for healing, as well as plenty of veg and a healthy diet, do you have to start eating this stuff or atleast more of it a recommended amount of time before the op?? If anyone can give me any info that would be greaaaaat :)xxx

    Hey hun

It’s 2 weeks before for drinking. Sleep upright for about 2 weeks although I’m trying to do it now as swelling is bad ( I’m 4 weeks post op)

Your not meant to bend down for 6/8 weeks. I ate no pineapple before but have just started taking bromelain tablets which have pineapple extract in them. And I don’t eat healthily at all and didn’t before my op either

    Hope this helps xx

Im 5 weeks post op today still sleeping upright for the swelling taking care when I bend, and lift anything,I would recommend eating healthily before and after the op to promote good healing,I was drinking the pineapple juice 2 weeks before the op daily, its very sickly,Im still forcing it down now along with bromelain tablets.

Eat less salty foods, and fill up with fruit and veg,I tried to keep mobile too, gentle walks around the house to keep things moving, although it is important that you rest,do not touch your nose, its difficult when you try not to touch it,you want to,lol,Make sure that you have organised everything around the hose in pre for your recovery if you live on your own,and log in here for support.xxx

Hi hun! I didn’t buy enough soft food and coz my husband was working late hours and i couldn’t go shopping first week it was a bit of problem . Stock up ur fridge with food and think soft food , coz u won’t be able to eat any hard food in a beginning . Buy plenty of qtips to clean dried blood and crust from ur nose . I agree with everything what girls posted above – no salt , pinaple, bromeline tablets, sleeping upright for as long as u can – I’m 6.5 weeks now and I still do it when swelling gets worse.Avoid sugar for first 2 weeks , it will help ur body to fight inflammation and swelling . No bending, no lifting heavy in a first few weeks and later for a long time no more than 5 kg. sleep as much as u can , coz when we asleep our bodies r healing ! Drink plenty of water and use straw . Try not to laugh, talk to much and yawn in a first 2 weeks . xxx

I’m looking to get my op booked in for March by which time my daughter will be one. My boyfriend can only get 1 week off work, do you think I will be up to looking after her by myself then after 1 week? I went back to work 10days after my BA so I’m hoping I will be okay. xx

It’s 6 weeks for the gym, but your meant to only do light exercise. I cant imagine exercising even lightly in 2 weeks though, I think my nose would just run and run and I’d be like some weird snotty girl in the gym lol!

Mr G said to me 8 weeks for a proper night out, I dont think its so much the alcohol, even though it does make your nose swell. I think its more the risk of banging your nose when your out. If your anything like me Im a costantly falling over etc when im drunk so I will be staying in for a long while lol.

And I didnt take arnica before or after, I was told not to as well :) xxx

I know I want to die, its so boring. I am like a hobbit!!! I dont know, I’m 4 weeks and it defs is still fragile, if I hit it I think it would like splatter over my face lol.

He said at least 8 weeks if I was going to be ‘binge drinking’ think it would be fine to go out and have a few in a quiet ish place if your careful and aware of other people so they dont accidentally hit you lol.

This is not me when I go out though, I would be the one rolling on the floor drunk so its not safe for me to go out haha

Oh my gosh, no gym for 6 weeks and no night out for 8 weeks. That is my worst everrrr nightmare haha!! But i suppose it will all be worth it. And Rinaule i live with my mum and dad so they can help me out when it comes to bending down and washing my hair and stuff, which is good. How long is it before you can wash your hair and wear make up again? xxx

haha neither Im like those people you see on the booze britain programmes! No its not worth it I dont think. Im going to wait to go out until i see Mr G on 7th Feb.

I washed my hair day 5, even though I had dried blood in it (attractive) i literally didnt care, I didnt really move from bed for 5 days. I just washed it in the bath. I had a proper shower and washed my hair on day 10 but got the cast soaked…defs dont wash your hair in the shower, its impossible to not get the cast wet!!!

And you can wear makeup as soon as your cast is off just not on your nose for 6 weeks (i think could be wrong though)

I had all this sticky rank stuff on my face for days after the cast came off and looked like shrek from the swelling so there was no chance I was leaving the house in that state.
