Hello! has anyone been offered the numbing cream at manchester lifestyle? or can you ask for it in your arm rather than the back of your hand? im going on thursday and getting very nervous about the injection! im terrible with them! xxxx
They can give you numbing cream 30 mins before putting the canula into your hand. I had my op last wed and to be honest the canula going in was worrying more than the op!!! Silly I no, this was just because I have crap veins and last time I had one put in it took 4 painful attempts. I had nothing to worry about they told me if they couldnt get it in my hand they’d put it in my arm but the canula was in within seconds and I didnt feel a thing…..they do it day in and out so there experts at it!! If you do want the cream though ask the nurse when your first admitted as it takes 30 mins to take effect. Good luck for thurs!!! xx
awww thankyou! can you be put to sleep by the gas?? i know, im only worried about the needle! and how big is a canula? im imaginging it massive! ergh! hahaaha xxxxxxxx
Hi Alicia, I’m in mcr lifestyle now, had the op this mornin. Canula isn’t big at all, its all the dressing that makes it look big! When they put it in I looked away reading sum rubbish on the wall n it was in in seconds. I really wudnt worry luv, its not worth it! X
the canula’s are small, they take the needle out just leaving a small tube for access to the vein. I really wouldn’t worry they no what there doing…..I’d rather that than being put to sleep by gas. xx
