I have a cat, she’s around 8 months old. She’s normally super feisty n would prefer not to be picked up or sit on my lap. Today however she’s acting all odd. She’s being really quiet and wants to sit with me or right next to me. When she lays down her ass is raised…. I’ve felt her legs etc n she’s not in any pain.

Does anyone have a female cat that has behaved similar to this n if so do you have any idea why n if a trip to the vets is neccassary?

The vets ate closed today but if needs be ill pay the £150 emergency call out charge.

Thanks in advance for any info X

If she is eating and drinking like normal then I don’t think you need to call the emergency vet hun, just see how she get on over the next few hours/days. Is she a house cat or an outside cat? I have a house cat who is like yours, super independent and feisty and would only come near me on her terms. Then all of a sudden she just changed and now she is always crawling all over me for attention, even when I’m asleep on the couch she actually poked me in the face with her paw the other day to get my attention! Lol. Chances are its nothing to worry about, animals have off days too, just keep your eye on her and see how she goes xx

She might be feeling hormonal/broody and is showing you her affection because she doesn’t have her own kittens to do this to… My cat went through a phase of carrying around this toy/ornament and cuddling up to uni and meowing so we noticed .. She’s weird tho xx

It means there in heat babe. When they act all cuddley and raise there bums in the air and make noise it means they want to be.. Well ya no..lol its to attract the males, ifshes not an outside cat/ not going to be an outside cat its best for her if you get her ‘done’ as its not very nice for them, I own 2 boy cats but my friend owns 2 girls and theyv both had kittens. Thanks for the replies.

At the mo she’s a house cat, I was advised not to let her out until she was a year old. I want to get her spayed before she ventures outside though. She’s purring and keeps rubbing up against the furniture and anything else that crosses her path. Could she be in heat then? If she is, is it best to get her spayed whilst she’s in heat or after? X

Yeahh it sounds as though she’s in heat, you’ll have to wait until she’s stopped before you get her spayed :) xx

Aah I didn’t know that, my cats are rescue kitties do they were done before we got them. Doesn’t stop my male cat from spraying every once in a while, most disgusting thing I have ever encountered! Lol x

Me neither amyk. At first I though she’d eaten something during the night. Glad it’s nothing serious!! X
