Op all done PHEW 500cc overs

Hi Guys just propped up in bed so thought I would write up a little about my day for all pre op girls as I found them very helpful to read.
My admission was 12 but we went for 11.30 as we were sick of being in hotel room! Got taken to my room straight away – First trust hospital in Preston is so clean, smells clean and room was immaculate. There’s a tv and en suite in there too (I was in room 9) As we were being shown to the room I seen a girl coming out of theatre room and started feeling nervous! At 12ish a nurse came in and asked medical history etc check blood pressure and things. Then about 1pm the ward manager came in asked a few questions. At around 1.30pm the anaesthetist came in to chat about the anaesthetic etc he was lovely as were all the other staff there couldn’t fault them. they really look after you and so chatty and friendly. At 2.30pm Mr Traynor came in and drew on me and we had a little chat and a laugh – he is COMPLETELY different person to what he was in consultation – I found at consultation he was quiet didn’t say much at all but today he was chatty and jokey. He then told me I would be going down at around 3pm. At 3pm I was taken to the theatre room where I got my cannular put in and as soon as I felt the cold going in my arm I was out!! Apparently I was in for 25 mins.Next thing I know I was back in my room and my boobs felt like They had been stamped on a million times!!! But the more I started coming around the less it hurt strangely enough. I felt fine afterwards had tea n toast, nurse came to help me put my bra on …. I brought 2, they were both waaaaay too small. Luckily there is an asda round the corner so my partner had to nip out and get me another. When I first sat up my chest felt so heavy but as soon as the sports bra was on I felt so much better and could get up and move around fine.As I felt fine I was able to leave at 7pm. Got to hotel at 8pm as Im staying in Manchester tonight. Pain has been manageable and due some more tablets soon then gonna try rest. Chest feels quite tight but to be expected. Will get some pics up when I get home. Thank you to everyone who has posted about their experiences, it’s been so helpful to read and I hope I can be the same to others xxxxx

Thank you for posting your experience Ashlee. Was very helpful. Hope you don’t mind the add. I was supposed to have my op on 19th Jan but it got postponed to the 26th. I am soooo nervous now, the days are getting closer. @ Freya, thanks for posting your experience too. It made me feel less anxious and am hoping everything will be alright. xxx

Ashlee I was in room 8 and must have been in just before you! Sounds like me had pretty much the same experience. Honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I think I’m starting to bruise now…

Hi Sharks im glad it helped you 🙂 don’t worry I was so nervous to the point where I was sitting on the bed and felt like saying right I’m too scared get my coat I’m off home!!! Haha. But they really look after you and I promise it’s not as bad as you think 🙂 I just woke up been in and out of sleep Nd got a numb backside!! Il accept now, and good luck for 26th. It does feel stranhe doesnt it, soon I’m sure it will feel like they have always been there. I’m achy and taken a bit of a reaction to the antibiotics but doing ok. Looking forward to getting this awful strapping off on Monday. I have been taking the arnica tablets btw, don’t know if they help but I certainly dont have any visable bruising. Hope your journey home is alright today xxx

Yes Ive read the strapping is quite uncomfortable bet u can’t wait. What reaction did u have to antibiotics? i think il def get some arnica tablets 🙂 did u take anything for constipation? I have some senakot but havnt taken any yet xxxx

Thanks Hun. Just had my admission time. 11am on 27th. I’m an overnight stay too. No I’m still so undecided on either 450 or 500. I’m going to decide on the day ! Xx

They were so lovely! I even asked for the nurse Anne when I came round Wgich my boyfriend thought was weird haha. It was because she was so nice when I was going under. I felt surprising good this morning and was even able to make my own lunch! but think it’s because I was taking co-codamol every 4 hours even though the night. I haven’t taken any for about 5 hours cus you can’t take more than 8 in 24hrs and the pain is just starting to hit me – feels very tight and I can’t move my arms much but still, it’s really not as bad as I expected. Are you in much pain? I’ll have to try those tablets xx

yeah that cocodamol makes me soooooo drowsy ! im trying to take it just twice a day now and ibuprofen in between. up til now it hasnt been overly painful, sometimes incisions are a little stingy/itchy but not bad pain xxx

@amylouk try and wake up at 5am to eat something – my admission was 12 and i woke up just before 6 to eat something just incase i was waiting a while xxx
