I’m getting my BA on Thursday 340cc unders and although so excited and know I’ve made the right decision 100% I am so worried about being able to look after my 18 month old very active toddler after my husband goes back to work 5 days post op! I know I won’t be able to lift him but for how long? will i be able to open cupboard doors, cook his tea, lift pans etc. I’ve nobody to ask to come help me out during the day and don’t want to have to pay for a stranger. My husband works 25 miles away from home so can’t come home at lunchtimes etc. Maybe I was a little naive as I didn’t realise all of this prior to my pre med on Saturday! Can anyone give me advice please :)

I agree, just make sure each days heavy pans are ready on the stove and that the food is low down. Or if you have time cook and freeze some small meals now then just microwave them. You should be fine for making toast and stuff, i’m sure your baby won’t get too upset if he has toast for lunch!

Don’t overdo it during the day and ask hubby to do washing etc when he gets home from work.

thanx girls, feeling just a tad weepy 2day, think its cos of all the excitement, plus cos of the short notice, it was recommended that i come off the pill straight away and cos I’ve done so, my period has started this morning……….just the icing on the cake lol! xx

hya, my baby was 18 month when i had my BA 3 weeks ago, and its the little things that botherd me like pushing him in his pushchair up an hill, so i defo recommend taxi’s when you go out anywhere and bathing him and changing nappies was a struggle too, but i got through it, so if i can any1 can lol, 3 weeks on and im pain free… you’ll be fine, good luck xx

Thanx everyone, u’ve made me feel better already :) They recommend that you come off the pill 2 weeks before ur op (due to risks of clotting they say) but if ur adament that u want to stay on it then its up to you and the surgeon should still do it anyway (so i’ve been told). I came off on saturday so that’s only 5 days before, so I’m sure it’ll be ok either way xx

Re the pill, my pill recommends stopping taking it 6 weeks before any operation and althopugh MYA say 2 weeks i’d definately rather ere on the side of caution. There is a risk of a clot with the pill anyway and then there is a risk with the operation so is it really worth combining the risk of both?
