Hi, I’m having my nose op with Mr G on 26th April. Originally saw Mr Russo who suggested closed surgery (shave off the bump and reduce the tip slightly). Then I had my consultation with Mr G and he said it was my decision whether I had open or closed but would prefer to do open?? Now I’m confused as to which I should choose! Assume Mr G suggested open as he can access all parts of my nose easier but if the same can be acheived with closed surgery then surely that’s the better option??

Help! Anyone had similar surgery that can recommend??

    Many thanks xx

    Hi Jills,

I’m 9 days post op and I had an open rhinoplasty with Dr G. Open rhinoplasty allows him to do more tip work, and I thought while I was there I may as well get them to go everything they can. They can do a little bit of tip work with closed but I think it’s a bit more restrictive. As far as I can tell Dr G. always prefers doing open because I think it makes it easier for him. Having had open rhinoplasty the cut and the stitches have been fine, they’re the easy bit, and I can already tell there will be virtually no scar!

    Good luck making your decision,

    Liz x

It depends how much work you want done I think if you have closed that means they cant do any/as much tip work. I know if you want alot of work done then open is better as they are more restricted with what can be done closed. i want my tip and bridge changed and would like to see alot of changes in my nose so he suggested open for me xx

    Hi Jills!

I had closed surgery with Dr G on the 8 March. I had seen 2 surgeons before him who suggested open surgery. Dr G initially discussed open with me however I explained that I didn’t really want to have a scar and he said that he could do what I wanted with closed but he wouldn’t be able to do as much to the tip however my tip had never really bothered me anyway so I was fine with that!

Before the op I was worrying about the fact he was limited with what he could just from reading a lot of posts on here from girls having/ had open surgery. On the day of the op he was very reassuring.

You need to think about what is best for YOU and what you want and discuss this with him again.

I personally am very happy I had closed and you’re welcome to take a look at my pics :)

Hope all goes well :) xx

Thanks so much for all your posts! Guess nerves are setting in a bit now & I’m questioning everything. I’m 100% sure about Mr G and that he will do a good job so if he thinks open is best then I’m happy to opt for that.

Can only take 2 weeks off work though so a bit worried open will be more noticeable. I’m only having this done once though so it needs to be right.

Thanks again for all your words of reassurance, can’t tell you how much it helps! xxxxxxxxx

    Hi Jills,

As a Dr G open patient I have to say the scarring is so minimal it’s hard to believe he’s done so much, I’m loving my results, feel free to have a look. I only had two weeks away from the office ( was working from home after six days ! ), just had to cover my black eyes, which I still have a little of cos I’m very pale lol X

    Good luck x
