Operation and piercings…??

Hiya girlies! 10 days now till my op.

When i went for my pre op with the nurse on saturday she said i will need to take all my piercings out for the op.

Why is this? Is it because of the metal? (Also read on the forum you cant wear hairbands with metal in them)

And also… Is there any harm in replacing them with plastic bars? As i have a couple piercings that will heal within an hour of being out.

One of my piercings is in my tongue.. asked the nurse about this one and she said i may not be able to have any sort of bar in there as it may get in the way of the tube. Are there any girls with tongue piercings that have had this problem?

i think u need to take your tongue bar out due to the tube that they put down your throat when your under the ga, theres been a few girls on here with tongue peircing and im bout 90% sure you need to take it out xx

I need to know this too as have only recently had my Tongue pierced…can’t be doing going through all that again!! X

Yeah u defo need 2 take it out girls I was told by my nurse 2 defo take it oue. Louise ur brave having a downstairs 1. Duno bout that 1 hun x

Haha I had to take out my downstairs one when I was in labour lol and n

By the time I got home it closed up not going through that again hehe x

My tongue bar has been well & truely stuck for about 5 yrs now, can’t undo the bloody thing no matter how hard I try! Hubbie has suggested pliers(!!), think I may go to a piercing shop & see if they can help cus i’ll be gutted if it get in the way of my ba xx

Thanks girlies lol Going to stick a plastic bar in the downstairs one. And will take the tongue bar out before surgery and pop back in straight after. Hopefully it shouldnt heal as ive had it done for 5 years now. All my others should stay open as well (conch, tragus, belly button) as ive had them all for 5+ years as well xxx

I took my tongue bar out when I had my tonsils removed & put it back in about 4 hrs later & it was fine xx

Ive got really unusal 1s in my ears not lookin 4ward 2 avin them out as they r so tricky 2 put bk in. Never mind all worth it. x
