I know, I know, don’t do it yourself, it will be a disaster blah blah I’m doing it
I’ve been to the salon every month for 6 months and she isn’t giving me what I want so I bought some jerome russell blonde and then a loreal blonde to put on top and a cool blonde toner. Luckily I did it on a little bit and not all over, it’s actually not too bad but just slightly yellow at the roots. So, who does their own and what do you use? Or can some hairdressers give me some tips? Thanks
xx
Hi hun. I do my own hair, have done for about 8 years now. I’m blonde too. I use Clairol Nice’n’easy SB1 Light Natural Beach Blonde (top shade). I’ve found that some of the other shades can turn the hair slightly yellow. Also my hair has become slightly damaged because of self dying over the years, so I’ve had to have it trimmed quite often recently to get rid of the bad ends. If you can afford it, I’d get it done professionaly – maybe try a different salon? xx
I’m not a hairdresser but I’m blonde and have been told to never ever do it myself.
Perhaps you should go to a different hairdressers then? It’s good that it hasn’t turned green or something but I would advise you to go back to the hairdressers and request someone else, or try a different salon because that store bought stuff will destroy your hair in the long run as the chemicals they use are much cheaper than the salon solutions that will make your hair prone to snapping. Bleach thins the hair anyway so using those kind of products will only make it worse.
Good luck x
Hey girls I’m a hairdresser and I do my own hair, I’m also blonde all over like a really White blonde, if you have roots just use blue power bleach with 6% peroxide, it will be yellow when unwashed it off but don’t leave it on too long maybe like 20/30 mins then get from sallys a koleston 10/16 toner with pastel peroxide, put that all over the yellow bits and it makes it White you only need to leave the toner in for about 5 minuites! If you’ve already blew he’d your hair just do that toner works a treat! Hope that helps xxxx
PS isn’t it like, sooo much effort doing it yourself/ X
Thanks girls, I’ll try the clairol and then a different salon if it doesn’t work. I’ve tried 2 already, just need to find a decent one that listens to what I want. Shame Singh isn’t a hairdresser, he gave me what I wanted haha xx
Thanks cloe, what blue powder bleach should I get? Can I get it from Sallys?and do I mix 40 vol cream peroxide with it? Xx
If you get well blonder blue power that’s the best and noooooo don’t use 40vol that’s wayyyyyy too strong and cud give u blisters on ur scalp use 20vol which is 6% that’s the strongest ur aloud on ur scalp ever! Just also be careful not to overlap the bleach on already bleeched hair just do where ur roots are xxxxx oo and yes all from sallys
Thanks cloe
xx
No problem
be careful but using the right stuff there’s not slot you can go wrong with just don’t leave it on too long and don’t overlap blonde and you will be fine xxxxxxx
I’m a hairdresser too and agree with Cloe, generally when doing blonde root the key is a great toner
ask some of your friends or if you see someone with hair you like in your local area just go and ask them where they go, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind telling you and it’s a huge compliment for them that way you are going to someone who’s work you have already seen and know they do a good job x
Heyy I’ve been dying my hair blonde for 6years and the best way to get rid of yellow or brassy tones it to put on an ash blonde colour as it doesn’t contain any of the colours which make it brassy. You can also use John Freda shampoo and conditioner not sure what its called but its in a purple bottle and says that it elimiated brassy or yellowy tones from dyed blonde hair.

Thanks for all the advice, I’ll let you know how I get on
