piercings….

hi all, I know you are meant to remove all piercings for surgery, but does include ones that cant be removed? I have 6 micro-dermal based piercings, which are supposed to be permanent, and although I’m not happy about going through the pain of having them taken out, I will if I have to, my new boobs mean more (and my piercer is my best friend, so putting them back in isn’t a problem), I’d rather hear what people say (google brings up so much contradictory its unbelievable really), or if they have the same problem xx

Call your PC and ask her to get your nurse to call you, but I can guarantee she will tell you to take them out xx

hello, when i was seeing the nurse at my pre op she mentioned my piercings and that they would all have to be taken out and i said good thing i havnt got my skindiver because cant just pop it out lol and she said if they cant come out then they put tape over it! but do ring your pc or nurse to be sure as they might have didnt opinions to what the nurse told me xx

I have 19 piercings, i took out as many as i could and just put tape over the other ones

Might be a really stupid question but what is a micro dermal and madonna piercing? X

a micro dermal is a blingy bit of jewellery, its a little stud that sits anywhere on ur body with a small disk, plate or cone that sits under the skin held in place by ur skin growing around it, hence the permanent part, a madonna is a stud by ur top lip off 2 the side (if i remember correctly, i think we call them monroe’s, but i could be wrong and up 4 an ass kicking off my best friend) xx

iv got 4 in a tattoo up my side (its also on the flyer 4 my best mates business), 1 on my temple and 1 at the base of my neck, they are gorgeous, so different and unique xx

I’m definatly going to look into this. Should I look for any special qualifications for the people who do it or will all tattoo/piercing places do them? Is it really painful? X

no, short sharp pain, thats all, but dont get them done when u are on or poorly coz they dont heal as well.

not really, but ask 2 see their work of them, they are getting very common with (like most other businesses out there) cowboys, its like anything, research really helps xx

I wore my microdermal in with my BA I just hadto tell them and have a plaster over xx

Loads of places do dermals mini, just google ones in your area. There’s loads in Manchester. Wat part of lancs do u live? My friend has a salon in Rochdale, she does them there xxx

I wouldn’t bother I didn’t I just told the nurse and had to sign a form to say I knew I still had a piercing in & that’s it xx

You just have to let them know at the hospital, you will have to sign something and they will cover them. Thats what my nurse told me at pre op x

I’ve watched a few vids on YouTube. It looks like they use a mini apple corer to dig a hole in your skin. Surely that must hurt?! Haven’t been put off though. I quite like them on the hip. Would clothes not catch and irritate them? Wouldn’t want it to heal on an angle… Also what happens if years down the line you want to take them out, how would you do this and would you be left with holes?

I’ve got 2 in my wrist, 2 in my hips and I got 2 by my ear they were really quick and not painful. My clothes don’t tend to catch any of them, I know they have to be cut out (sounds gross but its not) and they will leave a tiny scar xx

i had my ba last night and kept my tragus peircing in the nurse just put tape over it xx

thanks all, im deffo keeping mine in, i had 1 taken out be4 (wasnt ever cut out, but, this is gross, they literally have 2 be prised out, kinda lot a tough spot, or a tough splinter)

yea the best way 2 describe it, is they hole punch ur skin, then anchor the piercing in, my skin wheels (the 1’s on my side) have a higher change of staying 4 life, where as my normal dermal (thats a flat backed 1, where as the wheels look like a car steering wheel) im on my 2nd in my neck (i got really ill and run down after a car accident, and it wouldnt re-settle at all), but they look amazing xx
