Hi all 🙂 im in tomorrow and my nurse said to remove all piercings and have no moisturiser/make up on at all. I have so quite a few piercings and some in my ear i just cannot get out at all so i rang my nurse and she said a plaster should be fine, can anyone confirm? She just didnt seem to be certain and theres literally nothing i can do tomorrow if they have to be taken out! She also said after my shower in the morning dont put any moisturiser on, does this apply for my whole body? I get really dry irritated skin so i wondered if i could still put it on rest of my body but stay clear of my chest? I forgot to ask her that ? she did say no make up but i dont fancy travelling by train from newcastle with a totally bare face haha but obviously i can cope with that one if i must. Any help is much appreciated! Xx

Hi Hun, if your unsure about the piercings then keep them in and if there not allowed you’ll just have to take them out, I wasn’t even allowed to wear my ring. It depends on surgeon there all differnt with what they’ll allow. Moisturiser your not allowed any where before op as if could cause infections if got in to your incisions. You’ll be fine to apply it after your op just not near your incisions. I was a little naughty and wore a little mascara ? xx

It’s ok if you can’t get them out, they’ll just put plasters over them. I have a dermal in my hip that just got a little tape over and when I woke up and went to the toilet I noticed that I’d forgotten to take my belly bar out and they’d taped over that while I was asleep! It’s just so you don’t get an electrical burn from something while they’re operating so you just have to understand that this is a small risk from you not being able to take them out. Mine was fine though 🙂 xx
