Piercings help!

I have my tounge pierced and the nurse said i would have to take it out even if i put a plastic one in? I’m not really sure why though as i thought you just had to take them out because they were metal and interferred with the equipment? Surely a plastic one would be fine? If i take it out i think it would be closed up by the time i get back from the op, tounge piercings close up so quickly.

Anyone else had this problem?? xx

Hiya, I’ve got about 20 piercings, lol and am rather gutted that my tongue one might close up You can’t keep it in because they have to stick a tube down ur throat. I have my lip pierced vertically and am going to be mega upset if they make me take that one out…. it hurt like hell to get pierced.

My surgeon said they could put tape over some of my piercings though, so I’m just leaving my body ones in.

My plan is to keep my tongue bar in until just before I need to go in for surgery… then I’m making my fiance put it back in for me when I get out, lol. Hopefully it won’t be closed.

Oh right! I thought it was because of the metal, oh no that’s rubbish! I really really don’t want to have to take it out, so worried it’ll be closed up by the time i get out of op and am back in bed, tounge piercings close up so quickly! Do you think if i got a really short plastic bar it’ll make any difference or will they MAKE me take it out? xx

I reckon they’ll make u take it out. I heard the worry with piercings is that something might fall in places.. whether it be down your throat or into your body! lol. That’s why they can put tape on them and it’s ok.

Is anyone going to be with u? They could practice putting it back in for u so that it only needs to be out for an hour or so? xx

Yeah my boyfriend is coming with me, i’ll get him to try…..i’ve got to go and get it unclamped though, it’s so tightly screwed on and won’t budge, i haven’t changed it since the first bar i had put in! Have you had yours out for more than an hour? xx

Cant help with your question, but can you help me, my tongue piercing healed about 6yrs ago, now i wish i’d never taken it out, do you know if can you get it re-pierced or is it not possible?

Nah i’ve never had mine out since i got it 7 years ago. When is ur op? Mine is on Tuesday, if yours is after that I’ll let u know if mine is still intact! xx

Not until the 2nd of April, just over two weeks away, seems like forever though! Yeah let me know what happens then! Am jealous of yours being on Tuesday….

I’m having Ben Chew, 380cc overs from a 34A/B. Cannot wait!! I bought new pjs and slippers especially for it today, lol. It feels like I’ve been waiitng for aaaaages, even though I only booked in February, lol.

ha ha ye they are i aint long had mine finished and want more done, and i want micro dermals done but theres no where near me that do them yet :(xx

I’m pretty sure they have body mod guy that works from their shop every now and then. The guy I’m thinking of does tongue splitting so surely he must do dermals! If not, the shop I used to work in in Birmingham do them.. I dunno if that’s too far though?

I’ve been really worrying about this too and I thought a plastic one with flat top would be ok I can say though that one of my friends had a short surgery on his shoulder and in the few months leading up to it he had it stretched…sounds horrid but it really wasn’t, just week by week u put slightly wider bars in and then it doesn’t close as easy, he had no bother putting his small one back in post op! This is what I plan to do xxx

You can ask any good piercer for advice and do it properly x

Maybe u cud get away with a flat plastic retainer? I think if they knew about it theyd make u take it out but if u didnt say anything u mite get away with it.

I just made my fiance practice putting it back in again. Hopefully wil only be out for an hour n a half max!
