Piercings in Surgery :S

Hey!

Im new to this…awaiting my initial consultation which is booked for next sat! eeeeek

Doing all of my research at the mo and was wondering what the situation with piercings is? I have my tongue pierced (which i have never taken out) my nose and belly button. Can someone please help? x

All piercings need to be taken out when u have ur op. It’s only for less than an hour though u will b fine x

As above all should be removed have heard some had there’s covered with plasters but not common I don’t think, Tongue one defo have to come out cus they put a tube down ya throat xx Sam xx

I have belly button,ears and tragus pierced.I have never been able to get tragus one out tho,everytime I try it swells up and bleeds.I was panicking so asked my surgeon and he said it can be covered up,its not a problem which I’m relived about. But as above I think the tongue deffo needs to be taken out.hope this help,if you need more specific advice,contact pc and see what your surgeon says xxx

You could always ask your surgeon if plastic retainers are OK?

I dont know why im worried about them healing over…. I have had them done for years so surely it wouldnt happen! xx

I never took my tongue bar out before but it was absolutely fine. They worry about the ball coming of while you’re under x

I also have my tongue pierced and i was told i will have to take it out be4 my op in october I also have my nipple pierced, think thats an obvious removal! haha xx

I bet after the op, my nipples will be so stretched that i will be able look through the piercing holes! Ew. haha xx

Will i need to remove my belly button piercing?

hiy hun,im worried about my tongue piercing, all other piercings im not botherd about becasue the tongue heals very quickly, i have heard some people heal within hours, so i plan to take mine out before i go down to theatre and put back in as soon as i wake up! lol, good luck x

I have had my tongue pierced for about 6 years now, so i dont think mine will close up. But i am still going to take my bar so i can put it back in when i have woken up from my op! I dont think u would need to take your belly piercing out, but ask you pc. Otherwise just put a plaster on it if you dont want to take it out xxx
