pill help please! xx

Hi girls, I finish my pill pack a week and a half before my surgery, and I know your supposed to wait 2 weeks after before you start again, but just wondered do you have to wait till you have another period? Or can you just start taking them again like normal. Still duno what to do!

Hmmm im not to sure but i thought id mention that im pretty sure antibiotics cancel the pill out so be extra careful if you do have any sexy time lol x

You probs can start taking it before a period but u would have to take extra precautions too as that’s Wot family planning advise if your not on your period wen you start taking it xx

They advise you to stop taking the pill two weeks before surgery and antibiotics stop it working too. I’d come off it 2 weeks before surgery and then start again the period after your surgery whenever it may be and in between just use condoms xx

Thanks girls! Yeah that’s what worries me I don’t wanna end up pregnant! I’d be due to start taking my next pack the day after surgery and I know that antibiotics stop it from working and I think you have to take extra precautions for another 7 days after you finish the antibiotics. So might just carry on as normal but would there still be a risk of dvt after surgery?

Thanks sizzynat, that prob sounds a better thing to do. Just worry cos I’ve been on the pill for 8 years and don’t wanna start messing all my hormones up! so annoying! Xx

I get your worrys lol I just had my implant out yesturday and not having anything back in till around 4 weeks time having my surgery next week, so family planning advised me to wait till after surgery. Just gota b super careful xx

I have a pulmonary embolism from my surgery – i booked so quick id dint have a chance to stop my pill two weeks before, probs about a week.

Blood clots are no fun, I was diagnosed two weeks ago spent 4 days in hospital in agony and unable to breathe properly, and could have died.

Please please listen too the guidelines and rules – they really are there too keep you safe.

Just use extra protection.
