Did all you girls stop taking your pill 2 weeks before your op?
Just wondered what the risks are?

this confuses me because i have the contraceptive implant and noone has mentioned anything about it to me. surely its like the same as taking the pill? i havent seen the nurse yet so im just hoping she doesnt tell me i need to have it taken out x

Mmmm, it’s something I don’t want to do to be honest, I love sex!
I saw my nurse today and was told to stop two weeks before my op but nothing else was explained about it.

i duno what it would really effect.. i bet she says i have to have it out..i dont wana tho cz aparently its really painful an then il have to mess about havin it put back in. youl just have to hack it an use condoms! lol!

I’ve got the implant and I’ve seen my nurse and she hasn’t said anything about removing it. Can’t understand why you would need to stop taking the pill either. I’d question this some more cos I don’t think this is right x

i think its just the pill. it has certain chemicals in it which makes you more prone to thrombosis and blood clots etc.
sorry for the sex lovers. it is necessary though.

ooh thats good about the implant because i was benining to worry. would of been a pain in the bum tryin to get an appointment at my doctors lol!!x

I saw the nurse for my pre-op yesterday and she said carry on taking the pill as normal but do not take it the morning or surgery – just take it later in the day.

Lucylu I can’t believe that we are getting told different things, I’m I little frustrated cos surely everyone should be told the same off the same company. Wonder if each surgeon requests different things pre op for the nurse to explain to each individual. Baffled….

Im going with gary traynor and i got told by my pc that i dont need to stop taking the pill. I think its ur inidvidual surgeons preference. Apparantley dr traynor doesnt insist on it because he thinks the risks are very small. Its basically about increased risk of DVT, clots, as the pill ‘supposedly’ makes you more prone to these. Implant…i dont really know if u’d have to have that removed but if u do, don’t worry because it doesnt hurt! i had mine removed about two months ago Would just be a bit of a ballache for u!
