please calm me down about the CANULA !! I HATE NEEDLES N SCARED OF GA !!!!!!

scared shitless about canula being put sleep nothing else is bothering me just that ! oh n the fact i cant stop smoking anyone else just carry on smoking thru nerves etc !

I was the same, ask for the gas mask first Hun, I had it and was out for the count when they put the canula in xx

I smoked hun up until an hour b4 my admission…very wrong and I don´t advocate it..but I did it….as for the needle in ur hand, it´s over in seconds piece of pi$$ hun..and the ga…well u will be asleep so why worry about that lol

Also I cut down smoking slightly prior to my op but never stopped completely….still smoking now unfortunately…I’m 10 months post op now xx

I hate needles, blood tests and everything like that, but it didn’t hurt. Was so worried about the op it didn’t seem like a big deal. It’s over in 2 seconds. Like jo said ask for the gas mask first and you won’t know. The nurse and anaesthetist were so nice and understanding. You’ll be completely fine, don’t worry xx

The gas mask was ace lol, it calmed me right down knowing I wouldn’t feel the canular being put in! I was at Preston first trust Hun xx

Gas mask! Amazing!! I was sh*tting myself about that! Asked for the gas n didn’t even no they’d done it went into a dream world of bikinis n woke up with boobs no pain x

im a weirdo i love needles so the feeling for me was amazing!!!! but its nothing its in within 1 second then the next thing your gone x

Nah its different I think, I felt the same cosy warm floaty numb feeling like I did when I had gas n air at dentist, but I stayed awake with that!with the gas for my BA it put me to sleep x

I was worrying throughout about the GA, needles and of course, my smoking.

I cut down a lot before and I was still having the odd puff from a friend’s cig before admission. I stopped for 5 days after my op and have gradually gone back up. Saw my nurse today and I’m healing beautifully!! I wouldn’t recommend it, but sometimes stopping your “stress relief” before a big event could do more damage than good… just saying!

As for the needles and GA, just keep talking to the nurse as they do it. They’re there to make you feel comfortable and put your mind at ease so use them!! I watched them put the needle in me and it was fine, It didn’t hurt.

You’ll find that you’re actually a lot stronger and braver than you give yourself credit for. That’s what i’ve learnt through this whole experience.

next morning if you stay overnight just incase if you need to be drugged up lol you dont even know its there to be honest even tho i nearly pulled mine out :l but if your a day case im guessing before you leave x

nikkiloue…honest its over in a couple of seconds, you will just feel a small scratch, try and not look when there putting it in! Just think you will be waking up with boobies I was a day-case and I think I came back to my room just with canular in, you won’t even feel it in you as your still drugged up and even when they take it out you won’t!

Good job I don’t mind needles he had to put one in and didn’t get the vein so he had to take out and put in again!

Oh iv had that loads of times stil scares me a bit bt new boobies be well worth it haha xx

I remember that happening with me at dentist they tryed like twice on each arm and ended up with gas and air an staying awake instead cos they couldn’t do it ha so woke up with big plasters on each hand attractive lol x
