Hey Cherub’s, So Im having my op 3 weeks tomorrow and need to know:

If you are a Daycase what sort of time is your admission?? I hear you don’t really find out until 2 or 3 days before (but need to plan if im gonna be there early enough to get a parkig space at hospital).

And

How long after your op do you have to wait before going on a 4.5 hour flight??

Any help would be much appreciated xxx

Usually 7.30am admission for daycase.

They say you can take shorthaul flights couple of weeks after op but longhaul 6 weeks. 4.5 hours is a difficult one to call. It’s classed as shorthaul but it’s a bit of a long shorthaul one! I wouldn’t like to fly after just 2 weeks, put it that way. x

Hi fairydust, my surgeon told me that i could fly the next day if i wanted to, i would leave it a couple of weeks though as you might feel a little uncomfortable for the first 1-2 weeks,xx

hey hun i was a day case and my admission was 11am xx

hi fairy at highgate london i was a night stay so didnt go down to theatre untill 2;30pm we turned up at hospital at 12;30pm and got a parking space but think we were lucky, im taking a flight in 6 weeks and another 10 hour flight in 8 weeks so i kept the stocking they gave me in hospital to wear under my jeans, i asked this a few weeks ago when planning my op and a flight attendant was on here and said a lot of her colleagues have had ba’s and returned to work in 2 weeks, im sure you’ll be fine get some socks if your worried xxx

Oh lovely thanks girls. My flight will be 8 weeks after but just wanted to make sure as I didn’t know if 4.5hrs was classed as a long haul or short.

Nikki you were a day case and didn’t need to get there until 11am! You were at Highgate as well wasn’t you? Hope im not that late. I live 2 hours away from hospital so booked to stay in hotel for 2 nights but if it’s 11am I won’t need to. xxx

ye i was in highgate 11 am admission, 3 pm op and out at 7,30 sitting in the hotel bar having grub lol xx

Oh thats not to bad then. Gives me some relief that your couldn’t of been in that much pain to be watching footy with ya bf and his mates lol.

I’ve got my pre op tomorrow and seeing surgeon again so hopefully i’ll find out if to go under or over. Can’t make the decision myself so gonna get him to make my mind up for me lol x

thats what happened to me, i could only have 300 cc if i went under the muscle, but wanted bigger so he offered me 460 cc over so that was the decision made for me lol, glad i had overs now though coz im really happy with them, good luck in your pre opp xx

i was a daycase and admin time was 10.00, but my opp wasnt til 6pm so theres no garentee u get out that night. xx
