Had my surgery on 31/05/16.. Yesterday I traveled home and didn’t feel too bad.. Just a lot of rest, slept fairly well last night just waking up once.. Haven’t taken co-codamol this morning as it made me feel really sick so instead have just taken paracetamol and ibuprofen.. Still feeling sick and heaving a lot (which doesn’t help the pain ??) anyone got any tips of what to do or how you were feeling at this point.
Thanks ?
Hi @laura I’m 8 days post op now and it does get better trust me! The 2nd and 3rd day were the worst for me,think maybe as the anesthetic and strong pain killers I was given were leaving my body. I really couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel and started getting all emotional, like what I have done etc! I stopped the painkillers after day 4 as I was sooo bloated and blocked up it was making me feel awful!
I also was constantly heaving, and quite sick which was killing my chest, I think it was maybe because of the antibiotics I think! I found having them half way through a meal worked better for me.
Try and keep yourself occupied during the day, lots of films/tv/magazines etc. I found this help me concentrate on something other than the pain I was in! Use ice packs for swelling,it’s really soothing. And a hot water bottle or heat pack for your back as after about day 3/4 my back and neck were soo achey from sleeping upright.
I tried to make sure I moved myself from bed to the sofa during the day,so I wasn’t just constantly in bed. I think sometimes it can make you feel worse when your just in bed all day then all night.
Also do you have a v pillow? Mine has been great for sleeping.
A few more days and you would feel SO much better trust me! You’ll notice each day you start feeling gradually better to xx
Thankyou for your reply! I’ve ventured down to the sofa with my v pillow and starting to feel a bit better.. Just sent the other half out to pick up ice packs.. So fingers crossed! Good to know that this is the one of the worst days for most people as I really don’t think I could do this for long! Haha
Xx
Your welcome,I no just how horrible it is when your feeling that ruff and can’t see it getting any better. But it honestly does. I was exactly the same, and kept getting myself all worked up which made things obviously worse lol. It’s so helpful reading other people’s experiences, because you realise it’s not just you!!
Have you got strapping on?xx
Hi Laura, congratulations on your surgery!
If definitely does get better! You will still have aesthetic and the drugs they gave you during surgery in your system so this will contribute to you feeling sick but will start to leave your body in next day or so, drink lots of water to help with flushing it out. Co-codamol seems to make some people sick so as you have they change to paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Have you been eating? The tablets can make you queezy if taken on an empty stomach so try eat something small before.
Hollies advise above is really good, you just have to ride it out unfortunately but this time next week you will feel totally different xx
