POD4 Contraceptive Pill? Please help

Hi,

Posted a lot on here recently I know, but has anyone started their contraceptive pill a few days post op/ never stopped taking it?

My skin has started to go acne-ish again, and my periods are horrifically painful, so I really really really am desperate to start taking it again. I called MYA and they said their policy is 2 weeks post op to be safe. Though the risk would be a blood clot, I am up and moving and the risk is very low anyway so I’m thinking that taking the pill is better than not.

Anyone else in this position? X

I started taking mine a few days after, couldn’t stand having irregular periods & bad skin! Didn’t seem to make any difference, some people don’t stop taking it so should be fine xx

Hey Abbie, it’s 2 weeks after, I checked with my nurse, but that’s just their policy. Most places don’t require us to go off them at all, so I’m wondering. xx

Hi Harriet, I have the Implant so had to wear the lovely dvt socks… still have them on now, I can’t take them off until tomorrow they are driving me mad ? so not sure about taking the pill again because I think if your still on contraception they put measures in place but I have only had to wear them 72 hours so you might be okay xx

I’m not looking forward to coming off the pill, I’ve been on it for years ? when are you supposed to stop taking it hun? X

Lucy – I’m keeping the socks on the whole week until Friday. I’ve been walking around lots too so hopefully I’ll be ok. Xx

Really well now! Got my 2 wk check tomorrow so fingers crossed I’ll get my dressings off and beable to shower. For me days 4-7 were the worst once my cocodamol ran out and I was still in pain. I can’t take ibuprofen and paracetamol just wasn’t cutting it. Anyway when to my doctors and she gave me some strong tablets and I’d say since day 10 I’ve felt back to normal. Loving my boobies 🙂 they are still pretty hard and I’m not sure they’ve dropped at all yet. Looking forward to getting measured and buying some pretty bras not massive padded ones! Xx

Ah good! Its so good that you’re so pleased! What did you get, unders? Ahh fingers crossed, that’ll be soooo nice! Ithought we could shower after 1 week?? Im soo greasy and nasty!

I’m going into day 5 tomorrow, and today I was actually OK, so fingers crossed I’m on the mend. These 4 days have been horrific though, only just been able to sit up on my own this morning! xx

I had 350cc HP unders although I’ve panicked a bit that they are too small 🙁 boob greed! Xx

I never stopped taking mine, I only had two weeks between all my consultations and my surgery yesterday, nurse mentioned at pre op that MYA recommend stopping it but surgeon never told me to. When asked yesterday morning if I had stopped it I told them no, so surgeon knew and that never stopped anything! I get spot bleeding and stuff so really didn’t want to come off it. X

I’m on Yasmin which is apparently more likely to cause blood clots, I was told 4 week before to stop and don’t start again til 4 week after. My pill is for my skin aswel it’ll clear up once your hormones have balanced. Try not to stress about your op aswel I found it made my skin worse :/ I feel you pain 🙁 xx
