pre op all done :) Gp letter??

So a quick update for those following me, I had my pre op today and after being sooo nervous about my blood takes I can say it went well, yes I did panick and was shakey and took half hour! Lol the mya nurse was fab, she was so caring and took her time and was gentle also answered any further questions I had. Booked my post op appointment aswell

Surgeon enquired about Gp letter aswell and apparently if any delay to receive this I can have my surgery postponed 🙁 I’m worried and really hope the Gp faxes back the ok go ahead letter asap! How long did yours take to arrive anyone? Xx

Hey girls, My advice would be to chase your letter up yourself. I was very fortunate in that my gp did it the day i asked and i picked it up that day, but there are so many girls that have had the extra stress of the late gp letter. Mya will contact them but there seems to be a lack of urgency on gp’s side and it can then get lost in the system on both sides. xxx

Hi.pickles, yes I had my pre op at my local mya clinic have you booked yours? And if the surgeon requests for one then yes you need one, I didn’t know about a Gp letter until today and they only fax it through after pre op as you need to sign a concent form x

I’m about to book it for the end of may… soooo nervous cos I’m not sure what to expect.
Also, I leave the country 4 weeks after I have my op so really worried about recovering abroad! x

@Misfion I know I’m so worried now as everything is all ready my days off my hotel :/ not going to let a letter ruin this! Yes I’m going tomorrow to the Gp surgery talk face to face its better and faster they want a letter from me but I’ve explained that mya has faxed through on behalf of me with my signature. I am booked for 23rd April my surgery so still few weeks left but I know it can take some time chasing after GPS sometimes too so will get this sorted asap! Xx

@Aliyah Don’t let it worry you chick. I heard through this forum that i would need a gp letter and it was mentioned in my initial consultation with my pc. I went to the docs to sort it and took the letter to my pre op with the nurse to hand to her. The reason I did this was because we have a lot of locums at my clinic and i didn’t want them faxing/calling a locum who didn’t know me. The nurse was happy with that, less work for mya i guess and less chasing, must be so frustrating xxx

Sorry you’ve lost me hun lol what’s locum? I’m feeling abit dumb now lol do you mean they share my medical? Mine was faxed through today after my pre op but I did ask wether I should go and get it myself but nurse said that it will have to be faxed through by my Gp with the fax number they sent my Gp xx

@pickles I’m not sure wether its ok to go abroad after 4weeks as normal activity is about 6weeks so I’ve been advised xx

@Aliyah really? thanks I better check with my pc, might have to bring my surgery forward a bit. what are you having?
