Re-assurance needed ++ post op ladies

Hi ladies I’m day 5 post op and today is by far my worst day. My pain is far worse and I’m now relying on paracetamol and ibuprofen. I’m so uncomfortable and the swelling won’t stop. I’m finding it harder to breathe because of pressure on my chest from compression tape. I’ve not been to toilet properly so took some lactulose and now have the worst stomach cramps ever. I thought by now I’d be starting to pick up a bit but I honestly feel I’ve got worse. Please can anyone offer me any re- assurance or advice! I’m sat here wondering why I’ve put myself through this now xx

Heya scarlett I was exactly the same!! I wasn’t in a large amount of pain but the swelling and tightness drove me absolutely insane. I even went to my local after hour doctor at 4am begging for muscle relaxers (as I went under the muscle) but she said she couldn’t.

I am 8days PO now and the tightness still hasn’t got any better however I am much more tolerant with it. Once you have finished your medication your mind might clear up a bit! Make sure you are propped up well and keep drinking lots of fluids. It will slowly get better but as long as you don’t have redness, crippling pain or anything abnormal try to remember it is completely normal. Its a case of literally putting up with it

Thank you so much for your response a-Marie! I guess I’d got my hopes up that it would be getting better by now but it’s not. I’m glad to hear your starting to like yours a bit more now. Thank you again for your re-assurance like you said it all sounds normal but just a pain to put up with xxx
