This is the second time i’ve gone for a walk for about 30 mins outside with the dogs (husband leading them) and my boobs feel really tight and my chest goes tight like there is a massive weight on it, it’s gone now i’m back home..

Has anyone else felt this? xx

Yes. They started off really tight then loosened up, but every time I walk outside or I’ve been in the car, they go tight again and my back hurts from hunching over. It’s normal and will get easier (I hope!) x

How many days post op are u? I fund it a lot easier and not tight anymore when walking after about day 6 :) xxx

day 6 today, really hurt again, only went in the car as a passenger for 5 miles and walked for 5 mins and it went rock hard and really tight on my chest again, so painful! xx

I’m day 11 and still get it x

aww no! it’s so annoying, don’t feel like I can do anything normal like go for a walk to stretch my legs without feeling rubbish with it. Is it something to do with our lungs and the change in air pressure or something? x

Did you get unders? If so I think it’s because the muscles have undergone so much trauma and are still recovering for a long while yet. So many little things you do take a toll on those muscles, so just walking a little way ends up making you feel like you’ve gone an hour at the gym. I’m finding it gets easier day by day. They say you can drive after a week but I don’t feel up to it and don’t plan to try for at least another week – my boyfriend is still doing all the high and low bending (Feeding & cleaning out cats, getting cups off the shelf etc). Just try not to do too much. Enjoy the rest :D

took me two weeks to get rid of that!

Yeah i had unders, that makes sense then. I can’t seem to lift anything at all, can’t reach up, pick up the kettle or the dog bowls. My hubby is being good but he’s not great at doing everything that needs to be done without me asking constantly, he’d happily leave the floor dirty and leave the dishwasher not filled for days! I just have to keep making him feel sorry for me so he gets on with it! I don’t think i’ve properly taken on board the extent of the trauma to the muscles and keep trying to do too much too soon as knackering myself out! xx

I was like that the first week blondie as I felt pretty much fine from day 1. At the start of this week though I could tell I’d overdone it, and at my 7 day post op check, the nurse said i shouldn’t be lifting my arms above my chest or doing anything very physical, even if i feel up to it. The body needs time to recover, and the more you do in the early stages, the longer the recovery will take :( I’ve been much better these last few days as my bf has been washing/ drying my hair, sorting the animals out, reaching/ lifting/ bending down etc, while I am waited on hand and foot :D If your other half isn’t up to that, then just make sure you do everything really slowly. If you have to get something off a high shelf, stand on a chair so you don’t need to raise your arms far. Share the weight from one hand to another, don’t carry things for long etc etc, take frequent breaks, and as often as possible just rest with your arms by your sides x
