So basically looks like surgery may be off the cards for now 🙁 Been refused a loan even though I could pay back no problem because of poor credit which I think is just so stupid considering I’m in no debt, have always worked and pay all my bills but hey I guess that’s not how it works 🙁 Finance doesn’t seem likely either they’ll only accept if someone else like a parent signs on it as well and that’s not guaranteed. Just so so disappointed & guess I just took it for granted I could get accepted. Right now it’s looking like religious saving to even be able to consider it so yeah I just feel….ugh.

If any one could offer any financial advice I’d appreciate it do much. Do you think I may have any more options & surely it will look bad on a credit report if you keep applying for loans? x

I’m with Santander, they refused 🙁 the APR was really good as well. They said I can try again in maybe 6-8 months but I don’t see much changing within that time? I tried Sainsbury’s as well x

Yeh definitely don’t keep applying you get a foot print every time you do and then as a result you’ll most probably get rejected… im not sure about Santander how they work Lloyds isn’t great apr but literally you apply online half an hour later its in your account, shame your not with them im almost positive you have to be with a bank for 6 month plus before they will give you a loan.. sorry I haven’t been much help hope you get sorted xx

Yeah it’s just a vicious circle! It’s so frustrating when you know you can pay. I might research Lloyds, & thanks for your help Rose 🙂 xxx

Anything to help, ive also read on here that girls have applied for finance directly with company been rejected asked why and its been for silly things like a missed phone bill which they didn’t really miss so sometimes your rejected at error, just keep searching on net try Lloyds if you can other than that all you could really do is see if some one will be your guarantor – good luck sorting it out xx

Hi Elle, there are still plenty of options so don’t lose hope just yet! I would stop applying for loans though as the more you apply for and get declined; the worse your credit score becomes. I paid for mine using MYA’s finance company, and yes the APR is ridiculously high but it was my only option really, i’m a student and work part time so would not get accepted on my own, but my mum agreed to be a joint applicant, it will be all my money and out of my bank and everything but they said yes straight away because of it 🙂 so have you got a parent or someone that will agree to this? Other options are things like credit cards that a lot of people use but you may not get accepted for these either, but a parent could always get one for you? xx

Thanks for replying Philippa. xx Yeah I’m not going to apply for any more & I’m guessing it’s the same kinda footprint if you apply for a credit card? & the only option is my mum, she has said I can put her name on it but I think she has poor credit too so it’s not guaranteed but I can keep my fingers crossed! Wish I’d looked into this sooner rather than getting my hopes up. If none of this goes through I’ll have to savesavesave & maybe apply again after a year or something see if my score has improved. Just totally disappointing x

& Thank you Rose & Katie. I’m gonna go and do some serious research to see what my options are. And here’s me thinking ‘oh I’m good with my money I’ll be fine!’ naive lol x

I know exactly how you feel, I had a consultation in 2011 and applied for loans and credit cards and kept getting declined because I didn’t have much of a credit score, I didn’t have a bad one, but being young and stuff I got declined and got so fed up that I just put it out of my head, I then started the process all again and it was absolutely fine, just put my mum on the application and all got sorted 🙂 I really hope you sort it out! xx

Is there anyone you can borrow it from?x

look at getting a credit card for people with a low credit rating (google vanquis card).the apr is shocking, but if you can get it, and buy one thing on it a month and pay it back, you are building yourself a credit rating, so that if you reapply for a loan in a few months you will be more likely to be accepted xx

like geraldine has just said, thats a really good idea and quickly boosts your credit rating. xx

Every time you apply for a credit card or loan they will do a background check and they will see you have been refused credit within the last 30 days I think it is so try not do too many. I tried to get a loan a few years ago and found it really difficult and my bank offered me one but it was ridiculous APR and they recommended me to take out a credit card with them, spend a small amount on it like £50-£100 and pay it back in full every month to help me get my credit rating up as I didn’t have one at all. I saved nearly half the amount for my op then the rest I have split onto two interest free credit cards now so its worked out cheaper than getting a loan anyway. I hope you get something sorted though hun, it will be worth it in the end x x

I feel your pain Hun!! I was in the same boat as you, got declined on finance and couldn’t get a loan or credit card, my mum could of stood guarantor but wouldn’t do it for me, she made me so angry! I knew I had no option but to save, I saved up 2500 in about 3 months and my dad lent me my last 1000. Just save save save, just think if you could save 200 a month this time next year you’ll be a lot closer to getting your new boobs that what you are now. Chin up babe you will get there eventually, I know it doesn’t seem like it right now but the time will fly! Xxxxx

I had a similar problem to Phillipa im also a student and it wasnt i had a bad credit rating it was just it wasnt brilliant due to no outgoing and stuff so went and got some finacial advice from my bank and was told based on where my credit rating was now and where it needed to be for the loan that if i set up a couple of direct debts ; which are the best way to build your credit rating as they are the most heavily weighted gainer for your credit rating and also applied for a credit card like capital one and put your petrol or maybe the food shopping on there and paid it off each month it’ll be enough to have my loan within a period of months. Go and speak to you bank in person and see what they can advice! 😀 Best of luck hun, hang on in there and stay positive, you will get there evenutally! xxx

Aww thank you so much everyone for all your advice I really appreciate it I love this forum. Been feeling a bit down in the dumps today but trying to be positive. Unfortunately there’s no one I can borrow any money from. I already have a lot of direct debits; My phone contract, insurance, gym & Sky. I think I’m going to try finance with my mum on it. If that doesn’t work I might do the credit card thing see if that boosts my credit then save & apply for another loan. I hope it works out. Thanks again girls xxx

Hi Girls, I applied for MYA Finance and initially got declined, I was absolutely gutted! I basically don’t have a credit score because I’ve never had a credit card and I have missed a couple of phone bills in the past. (I have also been declined for a credit card, i know what the viscous cycle feels like) I didn’t have anyone in my family willing to be a guarantor so I thought that was that……

I then spoke with Wanda at the Birmingham clinic about it and she suggested I sent the finance company (121 finance) my last 3 months bank statements to prove that I could afford to pay them off every month….. I did this, highlighting my income and my essential outgoings and I GOT APPROVED – the next day!! Basically your application is sent to a human being rather than an automated robot system to consider whether you can afford it. Their job title is ‘loan underwriters’ if you google this is gives you more information!

    Hope this helps! xxxx

Try and get 3 people on it thats including yourself, my mum was refused straight away (by the stupid robot lol)so spoke to the manager and he said get me and my boyfriend to send him our bank statements etc and he sent them off to the actual person and they accepted, try to speak to the manager as they can sort it out for you rather than the people just at the call center as they have to stick to what the computer says. believe me the people higher up dont want to turn all that money down x
