removing steri strips

Hey,

Could anyone tell me how you’re meant to remove the steri strip? I had them put on at my one week post op visit and was told to remove them after a week. I’ve read on here that lots of people soaked them in a bath but I wasn’t told to do that, in fact I was told strictly no baths for 6 weeks as they increase the chance of infection. I’m really scared an reluctant to take them off as I feel like they’re protecting the scars!

I know what you mean I was like that as well.. I was scared to take them off cos I didn’t want to see underneath.. Mine just peeled off quite easily cos they had got a bit wet with me having a shower etc so had started to peel off a little on there own.
Anyway just go for it cos you’ll be really surprised at how they look I promise!! My left one looked like it had been there for ages and looked really faint!!!
As for not having a bath for 6 weeks, is that what you were told??? I’ve been having a bath from 2 weeks!!! Oh dear! I must admit though I havent been soaking them under the water or anything and have been concious of getting them wet.. I love my red hot baths as well…. x

yeh mine were put on at my one week check and was told leave them for a week so that means i can remove them on sunday!!!! scared aaaah. but my boobs look great already gone loads softer and push together quite a bit woop

Ah no bless you! I pulled mine off this morning too and im not sure if my scars are normal. One is way thicker then the other one. I suppose they’re not going to look great just 2 weeks later!

hmm, i thort mine look pretty small considering im 11days post op.. but maybe thats just me lol. Hmm, just give it time, they will get smaller xx

i think youre supposed to leave them (keep them clean and dry) until theyre practically falling off.
if youve been in the shower and they got wet this will prob make them less sticky. remember to dry them on a cool setting of your hairdryer if they get wet.

hi i had my steri strips on for a week after having tapes off.i could bath just used hairdryer to dry strips ,after a week just soaked in bath came off easily cuts were really good no infection healed really well.6 weeks without a bath ,i think you can get more of an infection from not bathing .im now 15 weeks post op my cuts have never caused me any bother at all xx

my nurse said if u bath u musnt let any water from the bottom half of u touch ur boobs as u can cause infection, boobs must be washed seperatly as to avoid infection and a diff towel used to the rest of ur body, ive been showering x
