Almost immediately after my first BA(about a week) I knew that the right breast felt differently to the left breast. I mentioned this a few times as I was back and forth to see my nurse as one of my incisions took some time to heal.
Nurse kept saying to give it time to heal and it was normal , anyway over the next year and a half i noticed a change in both of them one was soft and lower and the right was harder and rounder not massively but I could notice it.
I convinced myself that the reason for this was because I always pick up my v heavy 3 year old with my right arm and iv always been very toned.(Even my right arm is like popeyes lol and the left is just skinny)I had complete unders. Anyway over the past 3 weeks my right breast had a few twinges and it felt sore and itchy , I decided that I would go and get it checked to be on the safe side as they had had enough time to settle now.
I managed to see my surgeon within 3 days which was fab and as soon as he looked at me he noticed that it wasn’t just the right that might have a problem it was also my left. My right has slight capsular contracture and that it needs to be looked at and replaced but he also noticed that my left might have a rupture.
Woah!!! that was a shock my left was always softer and slightly lower but again still looked normal (although i had wished it was higher because even though i had no boobs before they were always pert) So not only does he need to look at the right and sort that out he also needs to replace the left.
I was so worried and scared immediately but so far MYA have been fab it was only Monday that Iv been told this and already i have another consultation with my surgeon to answer all my questions and go through the procedure again but Iv also got my re-op date booked. After reading other comments about MYA aftercare I was worried about things but the Newcastle team are fabulous and my patient co-oordinator Amy needs a medal !!!
Although my boobs sound awful as described above I don’t think they look that bad and people have always commented about how natural they look but obviously there is something not right and my surgeon has seen them once and immediately wants to fix them for me. Fingers crossed now that everything’s alright second time round and now iv just got to get myself prepared for surgery again.
Good luck honey, hope all goes well, you are so lucky you chose mya.xxx
The very best of luck to you hun. Really nice to know they stick to their word about fixing problems should they arise. Hope all goes well for you the 2nd time around xx

Hi annad I’m a patient at newcastle too I just wanted to ask if your pc is Amy Scott? tall, blonde, pretty girl?
I had an upsetting experience with one of the nurses but within an hour of me posting something on the forum MYA mod had contacted my pc (julie) she called me right away and was very apologetic the clinical standards manager was contacted and the issue is being investigated I received a letter the next day.
I can’t fault MYA at getting things dealt with!
I hope everything goes ok for you hun
xxx
Which nurse at newcastle?! I found one to be very rude and unhelpful, and she is even at the point where I wish I never went to newcastle, julie is my pc to, and very helpful, if not over worked, and amy has always been pleasent on the phone, but the nurse!! Xx
Is amy now a Pc!! She was on reception when I was there, only Julie and lisha when I was there xx
all the best annad x x
good luck annad hope all goes well for you. My PC is great too.
Sounds like we r all not very impressed with that nurse at newc clinic! I just found she had no ppl skills and had a depressing manner! I liked the other nurse there though who done my pre op. Julie and Amy are fab though. x
I always thought Amy would make a good pc.
The nurse who I was talking about is called Lucy (dark hair)
The nurse who I love is Jenny xx
I had Lucy, she was really good with me,went to see her for my stitches removed after open rhino,I felt really confident with her,she knew exactly what she was doing, she removed my cast a couple of weeks later and even cleaned all the horrible sticky stuff off my nose for me,I thought she was lovely.xxx
Hi girls thanks,
yeah Jenna my pc is Amy she has been fab, the other girl I used to see doesnt seem to be there now , well I didnt see here when I was down there but maybe it was her day off or something. But I remember Amy from last time aswell she is fabulous. I rang the morning after I had been down to the clinic when I was told i was gunna need surgery again and she said she had tried ringing me just after I left, she probs did but I was shopping at Metro lol. (My mam made me I just wanted to go home and cry lol)
Amy does everything she says she is going to do and is so supportive, and then the day after I spoke to her she rang me back to book my surgery date in. And I told her I was worried and that my surgeon didnt give me info about what he was going to do on the next op scars, implants, stitches , sizes etc she also arranged another consult with him so I can ask all the questions I have and put my mind at ease about things.Im having my post op on the same day aswell which is handy. Cant really remember having any trouble with nurses they seemed nice the other year although maybe it was Jenny I had because that name rings a bell.
So so far aftercare has been amazing lets hope next time that Mr Traynor can work his magic. lol still hasn’t quite sunk in but hey its got to be done. x x

Tina your profile says your nearest clinic is Leeds? I’m a Newcastle patient and that’s where I saw Lucy. If it is the same nurse you’re the only one so far to say you liked her.
I asked another patient if she had met Lucy and without me saying anything she told me Lucy was her nurse three times each time she left crying. The other patient is also my age, and as I’ve said before either Lucy thought it was ok to cut corners not washing her hands and picking with her fingernails etc or she isn’t as well trained as Jennifer which also isn’t acceptable. x
Jennabelle, I mentioned your bad experience to the nurse I saw at my pre-op and she was completely gobsmacked and said she was gonna mention it to someone higher. It’s good they’re looking into it and haven’t fobbed you off xx
Hollybol I think everyone is surprised, well the clinical standards manager is involved and it is already being investigated, so I should be hearing back from them soon. I just wanted peace of mind if anything went wrong, I didn’t want to be kicking myself in the end for being too shy.
But it has affected me, every morning I get up the first thing I think is I need to check them to make sure they’re ok and I have no infection, I’m constantly worried and I want to check them throughout the day. The incisions look healed over but around the bottom of my areolas the scar looks quite thick compared to the top about 4-5mm thickness it’s still hard to see as there’s still a lot of skin trying to heal that was ripped off with my steri strips.
I wish I had super healing powers! xx
Aww babe, I’m sure it’ll be fine. You have such a good shape already too! I’m also having a nipple lift as well as implants and keep getting really frightened about scarring
feel a bit more reassured though after seeing pics on here xx
The scarring isn’t too bad it’s mainly the skin around it. I’ll upload a photo next week, I can see already there’s an improvement from my last photo. They are really itchy which is a good sign but itchy boobs in the workplace isn’t so good haha! My incisions where the implant has gone in are looking good too
xx
Well there must be two lucy’s jennabelle because mine was Lucy at Newcastle, and the first thing she did was wash her hands and put on an apron and gloves,When I joined the forum.9/10 I put Leeds on my profile,I did not know there was a clinic in Newcastle,Just to explain as you seem to be doubting my word,I had surgery in London as Dr G only operates there, unless I have that wrong too,I had my file transferred to Newcastle because it was easier for me to get there from Cleveland, and I will be having my surgeon review in Birmingham,as the London clinic is fully booked around the date they could give me,I am really sorry you had a bad experience with a nurse called Lucy at Newcastle, but I had a good one,so good in fact when they were going to book me in with someone else for the next appointment,I chose a date when I could see Lucy, so I must assume we are talking about two different people.Wishing you a speedy recovery honey.xxx
I thought Lucy was good too – I’m sorry if anyone has had a bad experience with her. I think she is quite quiet at first but she was lovely with me sorting out the problems I had with my low platelet level. She’s just not overly excitable, but is really lovely, or at least to me. Sorry to hear you had a bad time Jennabelle xx
I don’t doubt you Tina I only mentioned it because I hadn’t realized you were a Newcastle patient, I thought you were at Leeds that is why I thought it was unlikely to be the same Lucy, but it obviously is the same nurse.
Sorry if I seemed abrupt but after my experience it is natural for me to feel like she does not deserve any defense (I’m sure you’d feel the same if the shoe was on the other foot?), like I have said before I put a lot of trust in her and judging by your good experience she is capable of good care so I can’t understand why I didn’t receive it, I feel like she took advantage of me. I couldn’t really complain about her manner I thought she was polite but my concern is with the care of my incisions.
Thank you to everyone for the well wishes
xxx
I totally understand honey, and you are right I would be upset if my experience had not been good too,the good thing is MYA seem to have listened and taken your feedback on board, lets hope you are well on your way to a good recovery and you can enjoy having your new boobs.xx
