    Hi,

I have just had my consultation with Mr. Gonschior and I’m really excited about the results of the surgery; I’m planning on booking in for over Easter. I’m just a little nervous about the recovery, as Mr. G. was saying about how your nose isn’t really stable for 4-6 months while the bone heals. I’m just wondering how long it was before you were able to do things like put make-up on, kiss your boyfriend, wash your face properly, blow your nose, do exercise etc. I know these seem like little things, but it’s the little things that are freaking me out. Also, am worried about going back to work after two weeks and it being really obvious that I’ve had it done, particularly if you can’t wear make-up. I’m a teacher and really don’t want kids asking what’s happened to my face! Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey lizba

Well I’m 4 weeks post op now with Dr G and I am back to work and nobody has said anything other than remarks that absolutely crack me up like “have you changed your hair colour” or “isn’t your hair getting long” me and the girls that know just wet ourselves. Mine is an obvious difference to as I had a massive bump and quite a beak on me and now I have a little nose. I went back to work after 2 weeks and was nervous but as soon as I got there I was fine.

I have two little boys so have been worried one of them will smack me in the nose with something or I’ll get a ball in my face so am being really careful. They both say – mind mummy’s nose when they kiss me goodnight etc. You just have to be careful. I’m sure putting a bit of foundation on your face is not gonna move your nose whereas walking into a door will no doubt have some effect.

I have been careful cleansing my face and put cream on my nose as it was quite dry when the cast came off. I have used powder make up on my face and bronzer and my normal eye make up I just don’t put anything on my nose at all. He told me 4 months to be careful. I thought exercise etc was only 6 weeks but I see him soon so I will check again with him.

Think about the results, whats a few months of recovery in comparison to have a FABULOUS NOSE for the rest of your life….

    Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your help. I know it will all be worth it, I think it might just feel like a very long few months while I’m nervous all the time and not able to do normal, everyday things. I’m so excited about the results though!

    Thanks x

I have been absolutely worrying about the same issues Lizba, I’m having mine done next month so I can tell you what happens… but as a qualified make up artist, I will be applying normal foundation and concealer to my face and possibly a light dusting of powder to the nose.

Try to not touch the nose at all as this will slow down recovery, I have two spaniels so I am worried that they will be attempting the usual greeting which is for them to jump up and try to lick my face and they will hurt my nose but I’m just going to have to be super careful and stop this behavior :)

I’m very nervous already but everyone has told me it will be great and they all wish they had done it sooner! xxx

Thanks Littlechelle. Good luck with yours, you must be so excited. I would like mine done sooner but I’m limited by school holidays.

Let me know how you get on with the basics (showering, washing hair, make-up, sneezing, blowing your nose) etc.

    Good luck,

    Lizba x

Thanks to everyone for your advice, I’m so jealous of those people who have already had theirs done: I hope that they turn out to be everything you wanted. Keep me updated through your recoveries and when you start getting back to normal everyday things again xx
