I had a rhinoplasty May last year and was told I could start wearing my glasses again after 3-4 months however I only started wearing them again in December as I was worried they would damage my nose. When I wear them I get a slight indent in the bridge of my nose which goes away, I’m putting this down to swelling still being present. However 2 days ago down one side of my bridge it went flat almost like it is crushed inwards slightly and along the front of my bridge feels sharpish the other side feels round and normal. I thought again this would be swelling but 2 days later it is still there and a bruise has just started to form on my nose. I’ve not knocked it or anything and not had problems up until now but has anyone else had this so far after the op? I’m worried it may have partly collapsed and it isnt going to go away. Its not noticeable to the eye but it is to the touch and feels very sore in that area.

Hey babe, literally had my cast taken off yesterday so went through all the glasses talk with the nurse, she said 6 months for sunglasses and that i could get away with wearing my light glasses in 3 months but i dont need to wear them for long only driving in the dark really. It doesnt really sound like glasses would be that heavy to do that much damage and esp if you had rhino 9 months ago your bones should have healed now. I would ring the nurse, just check it out. Better so be safe than sorry and not to be in pain (hopefully you accidently bumped it and its just a bit sore) . Hope you get it sorted and keep us informed. xxx

Hi, I normally wear glasses all the time but have been using contact lenses for 8 months then just bought a new pair of glasses at the end of December. Dr G said as long as they weren’t resting on the tip of my nose they shouldn’t cause any damage but its the only thing that has been on my nose. I don’t think I have bumped it because I’m still very tender and sometimes have accidentally caught it with my hand and I find it really painful afterwards so I probably would have noticed. I’m taking ibuprofen now hoping that it starts to feel normal again. I’m going to wait a couple more days see if it does settle and if it gets worse or stays the same then I will go see the nurse or Dr G again as I’ll be due a check up in a few months time anyway. I panic sometimes and over react its such a lot of money and you think all the time I hope it comes out right I hope it heals well lol. I think I will avoid my glasses for a few days as well. Thanks for the help. I hope you are feeling alright its exciting starting the healing process, are you liking your new nose? x x x x

Ahhhh thats such a pain that you have literally only just started wearing them again, i am dreading having to wear mine again just incase. Yeah i can understand that you still might be sore, dread to think if i accidently caught my nose now the pain!! Good idea with the ibro, might help settle everything. I totally understand, its a lot of money and its still very precious. Im being paranoid about mine at the moment, esp as they say DONT touch it. I love it, im so so so glad that i had it done even though its still swollen i am very happy. Are you happy with yours? Do you mind if i add you? xx

Its hard not to be paranoid I think it comes with the territory really, its smack bang in the middle of your face and you want it to be perfect. Ive done it quite a few times, you probably will eventually its a difficult thing to avoid. Ive gone to scratch my eye before now and knocked my nose, it just swells up, you worry for a few hours then its ok again. I say I’ve knocked mine but really all I’ve done is brushed past it it feels a lot worse than what it should or normally would because its so sensitive. Good to hear you are happy with it, thats the most important part, the swelling will gradually go down it does take ages though but if you keep pictures you will see such a difference over the weeks. Its the best thing I’ve ever done I’m very happy I did it and like you I loved it straight away even though it was swollen. No thats fine hun add away, I’ve not got recent photos I need to do an update. x x x x
