hi everyone just looking for advice, seriously thinking of having rhinoplasty, not booked consultation or anything yet, whats the difference between open and closed and how much will i expect to pay? it all seems so daunting! please could anyone give me any advice, thanku xx
Heya
Open is where an incision is made to the section inbetween your nostrils, as well as incisions made inside of your nose. Closed is where there are only incisions are made inside the nose. Closed patients dont have to have any stitches out as all are dissolvable inside the nose. The majority of patients are open as many surgeons prefer this method as they can see more of what they are working with. Closed patients are usually those who dont want a lot of tip ‘work’, say..just a hump removing.
With MYA I think the rough prices are: Open (over night stay) – £4800. Closed (over night stay) – £4500. Some patients can be a day case and you save about £400 on op price I think, but depending on how far away from hospital you live, you may have to get a hotel close to the hospital for the first night. You can also get various discounts like Friend Referral (£150 off) or sometimes they do random offers (for example I got £250 off my procedure).
There’s lots to consider and research into but you’ll be fine. I had my op on Monday and had Mr Gonschior. I have put pics up so you are more than welcome to friend request me and have a look.

thanku kaylees! keep seeing mr gonshiors name popping up could you please tell me which hospital he works at. im closest to manchester, thanks again and glad your op went well xxx
I thought he only worked at Highgate in London but have since heard that he also operates from Fitzroy too I think. Xx
Hi Hun I had closed surgery n paid £3400 but it all depends on offers they have avaliable and I’ve used them before so I think that’s why I got a little more. I had Mario Russo on 18th oct.. Will have some pics up soon once I get my cast off tues
my clinic was Manchester but I went to the first trust hospital in Preston
I think you need to discuss exactly what it is you want doing as I think theres a big difference in prices for open n closed surgery and also pain afterwards healing etc
It’s mad how different everyone takes the rhinoplasty if it’s something you really want just go for it
my experience was pain free almost – basically just a scabby looking nose but thankfully no bruising what so ever!! With a stupid plaster on your nose for a weak.. Easy peasy xXx
thanks lauraashley, thats a big help. did you go to preston because it was the first availability? xx
Yeah otherwise it would hand been rochdale but Preston wasn’t too far at all, I’ve put some pics up now of my before n after 7 days with cast off…I had closed surgery I think they only do open if a lot more is needed to structure etc I only wanted to change my profile to the side and the tip a lil bit smaller to suit xx
Mine was open moderate swelling with a bit of bruising and Mr G makes you keeps the cast on for 11-12 days. xx
thanx laura and littlechelle. my only worry at the moment is how long i will need off after. the range ive been told by various clinics is from 2 to 5 weeks! no way can i have that long off work as im not allowed unpaid leave. really want it done but this really worrying me. my best bet is to book a consultation i think!! xx
You won’t need that long hun…I took about 10 days off so it was two weeks inc weekends and that was more than enough. I went to help out at a client event after just 7 days straight after I got my stitches out. Wearing my cast xx
