Rhinoplasty- cast is loose and really itching! help!

I’m 5 days post op and the cast already feels quite loose (it isn’t stuck down firmly like it was to start with) Its becoming SO irritating and I can’t believe I still have a week before it can be removed! I hardly slept last night because of the itching/ irritating feeling. Has anyone else had this problem? I get my stitches out Thursday and the thought of having the cast this loose even until then is killing me- should I tell them to stick it down more again so its not as loose?

Ohh how annoying – My cast is meant to be on for 15 days as my op falls on a sunday not looking forward to that then !! x

Mr Gonschoir. I just called the nurse and she said they will stick it down more on Thursday. I go through stages where I want to scratch it to death and then it’ll be ok for a while. Still can’t breathe through my nose either. The nurse also said I can get it taken off next Monday instead of Tues, which may not sound like a lot, but really happy I’ll have less time with this thing on my nose!

Meg, you may be able to get yours taken off sooner as I really think you’ll be unhappy having it on for 15 days, its not pleasant! Not painful or anything, just very, very irritating. First of all I thought it was ok, now I hate it.

Nightmare lorlor!!! The thing I’m dreading is not been able to breath through nose!!! U could gag my mouth n it wouldn’t bother me at all as I mainly nose breath! Did u have packing in ur nose or is it purely due to swelling? How’s the eye swelling? X

Me too, I always breathe through my nose and never my mouth. My boyfriend has had sleepless nights because he said the noise I make is awful when I breathe with my mouth, haha! Now he knows how it feels as he snores. I had packing for a night and it was taken out in the morning. I think its due to swelling/ dried blood which you can’t get to and then it becomes rock hard. I’ve just used warm water on a cotton bud to try to clear my airway and its helped a bit, but still have to breathe through my mouth Eye swelling has almost gone now thank god Still have yellow bruising though and I feel like the swelling has gone down to my cheeks a bit (I look a bit like a hamster storing food!)

Sorry to hear it’s irritating you lorlor77, i had mine on for 14 days and it was fine! It does get loser over the days as obviously the tape becomes loser because of oil on your face etc, but if its irritating you that much i’m sure they can make it more comfortable for you.

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about, i had dr.gonschior 5 months ago and i am really happy with the results!

Ok maybe I was over-reacting yesterday as it feels bearable today and had the best night sleep in ages, only waking up once
