Rhinoplasty operation 24th July dr Gonschior

Morning all, had my op yesterday about 6pm just a little updated for everyone considering surgery I am in no pain at all this morning and wasn’t yesterday either ! Throat feels a bit weird where vie been breathing through it and eyes feel heavy but I can live with that !!

The nurses were all lovely when I came round after my op I told them I was hungry so they got my dinner straight away I don’t even think I really had that doxy stage after you wake up ! Food was actually really nice I had the pasta- didn’t feel me up though as I’d not eaten since the night before so my mum went mcdonalds for me ,the didn’t mind her bringing the food back just said don’t eat too much as I may feel sick but I didn’t

Worst thing about my experience so far was my mum and boyfriend having too leave think they were meant to leave at 10 but no one came to check and they eventually left about half past so I tried to sleep- difficult ! Been up every hour just sitting here awake which is annoying but not the end of the world I guess !

Just to confirm as this is what I was most worried about is the packaging they take put of your nose does not hurt one bit was out in seconds- just laying here waiting for my breakfast now I think they send you home about 9clock so not long to wait now – any questions let me know hope this is helpful, I had open surgery just looked in the mirror I don’t look as bad as I was expecting but bruising will prob get worse

Thanks hunnie, I get bored so easily too these next two weeks can’t come quick enough I just want to see it !! Going back to work next week with the cast on no way I can sit indoors for two weeks !! Only so much Telly I can watch !! X

I’m the same babe, I will go stir crazy! Let me know how the journey home goes. I’m worried that all the movement will be super uncomfortable. I’ve got a two hour journey.

Hey Megs, I am so happy to hear that all went well, I have had my first consultation with the PC and am meeting Mr G this Friday to see what can be done for my nose if you look in my album you’ll see what we are deeling with , it’s so nice to hear that it isn’t as traumatic as one may think when one is imagining it in one’s head. Please keep us updated of the swelling etc/pain/recovery…and I’ll be here all day practically as I work in an office and will be on the computer all day if you get board and fancy letting of some steam! The packing part was the thing that I was really worring about! Well done for being so brave though xx

Im sure you will love him his wicked puts you at ease and is honest which is what I liked the most ! I will put a photo up of what I look like at the mo I’m home now laying on my sofa feel absolutley fine been eating well (actually havent stopped) my nose is bleeding a little I can feel that but just feels like its running and the i’ve got tissue above my lip to catch it all – everyone is differnt though with bleeding but its so not painful – I didnt beleive people that told me it wouldnt hurt so I guess you find it a bit hard to beleive atm !! xx

Hey Megs, so glad it all went well. It’s not as bad as you’d thought it be is it! Now’s the time so sit back and make the most of 2 weeks chilling out. It will fly by! I have my check up with Dr. G on Friday, so looking forward to it. Littlechelle, I might see you there! x

Whats the packing they put in your nose then? is it to reduce swelling? And i don’t like the thought of not being able to breathe through my nose, bet its strange! x

I really thought it would be awful, this is such good news I was really thought it would be sooo painfull, but sounds like your breazing through it! good news!! Littlechelle, mine’s at 1p.m. so will miss you! Like Meg said, none of the operation is as bad as you’d think it will be. It’s one of the least painful procedures and the packing in your nose is just what they put up there straight after surgery so you wake up with it in. It’s taken out the next morning and you can hardly feel it. x

Meg thankyou so much for posting your story on here, Ive got my surgeon consultation booked for next wednesday with Dr.Gonschoir, all I have heard about him is praise & good things which makes the worrying alot easier I just want it doing now so bad .. im so impatient!! where are all you girls from? Dr G tends to work down London end but I live in the midlands Ive got the consultation in Birmingham and hope he does the surgery up this end too,does anyone know anymore about where he works?!! xxx

Hello my lovlies!!!I’m not sure where he does the surgery, but mine would be in highgate I was told by the pc, but check, hopefully he’ll do it near you too I am so excited too, and my mum has spend years telling me it’s a bad idea but she has the most perfect nose and always has, so wouldn’t ever understand.

Thats excatly the reaction I get from people, why ru doing it? you dont need it !! grrr its so frustrating ive wanted it doing since i was about 13 & the want to do it gets stronger everytime i see or photo or look in the mirror lol ive finally convinced my parents + other half, .. not without alot of hassle though, but i suppose they just care lol x I really hope he does operate closer than London .. but if i had to i would cope with the travelling to get the nose I dreamed of xx have u booked in for ur op yet?

Hi xdxexbxsx, I’m from the Midlands also and will be having a consultation with Dr G in Birmingham. i was told by me PC that Dr G will operate from Highgate (London) but all my aftercare etc will be in Birmingham.

I really relate to all those reactions too, it’s exactly what I get told but the op is for me, nobody else.. I struggle looking in the mirror at the hairdressers or even trying sunglasses on because all I see is my nose. Huff!

I am seeing Dr G on Friday, so I’ll have more of an idea of the type of surgery I’ll need ie: open or closed and I’ll have a look at dates then, it would be nice if a few of us newbies could get the same day then we could maybe chill together at the end of the day and we’d have someone in the same boat as it were. That would be nice! I walked into a door. It had a release button which I didn’t know about, now the nose which was already bad… is worse! well maybe not worse, but that’s what made me think well, the walking into the door was pretty horrific, got swelling, bruising etc, so I may as well bite the bullet and do what I have been wishing for since I was 12!

Honestly people really don’t get it do they? But people get haircuts, clothes, and shoes that suit them, well my nose doesn’t suit me, so I think I’d like a new one.

Good news – im still in no pain whatsoever … My arm has hurt the most where I had to have the needle to put me to sleep but thats just because I really dont like needles and am a wimp !!

I’ve just taken a few more pictures of my face the swelling etc eyes are pretty swollen and a horrible colour now but I can assure you that it just looks painful really isnt at all !!

I still have the white dressing stuff on at the end as mine is bleeding a bit but this is normal although doesnt happen to everyone, the nurses give you dressing and tape so you can change this yourself when needed. This is one of the things im struggling with as I changed it in the mirror yesterday made the mistake of looking at myself in the mirror (I fainted) but thats just because I dont like things like that, and my mum feels faint when changing it for me too so were not doing well there at the moment quite funny really !!

Slept really well last night – with my v shaped pillow and a few others so I was quite up right, eyes are really puffy now but thats normal for the morning I think.

Got a phone call last night from a nurse at mya checking I was ok and if I had any questions but I was asleep…

Hope this is helping girls dont be scared by my pictures im so in no pain ! Ps if you have been thinking about getting it done for years id suggest just to go for it I only thought about it for a few months before I booked mine as im so impatient xx

Glad you’re still well megs…bar the whole fainting incident! Love your last sentence! What made you want yours done then hun? Has the boredom got to you yet? How was your journey home?

I’ve just booked an op date for 12th December (far away but wanted that date as I get extra time off work to heal!) I’m so scared. Not for the pain but now it’s booked it feels so real and I keep thinking to myself “what if i regret it?” or “am i just being silly?” despite hating my nose for pretty much my whole life. I think i am real curious as to what Dr G will be able to do to it too. Eeek, so many things to consider.

Ahh that will be good if you get it done on the same date girls !! Hmm i’ve never really “hated” my nose as such just wanted it changed a tiny bit I like how it looked from the front just not the side and few of my friends were getting boob jobs which I dont want so I thought why not get my nose done

Still in no pain today, but am feeling a bit down just keep thinking what if I dont like it etc what have I done but Ive read thats normal so hopefully will feel better in a few days !! xx

I can’t wait to book mine in… And I haven’t even had my consultation with Dr. G. yet! How did you pay for it, if you don’t mind my asking?

I’ve been sort of just planning on setting aside a certain amount of money each month for a couple of years…

Hey – Well as soon as you book it you need to pay £500 deposit to secure your op date so I paid that straight away which left me £4300, I had a bit saved up in the bank already so put £1300 down and got a loan from firt medical for £3000 I got an interest free loan of 10months so have untill next august to pay this, I have been working a bar job weekends on top of my full time job in the week which gives me the £300 a month to pay this

Have saved so much already and is my birthday soon so have asked my family for money so hopefully mine will be paid off by christmas

Littlechelle, I haven’t got my time yet. Not sure whether that will come with the confirmation letter or if they issue times closer to the op date?

Hope you are feeling a bit better now megs?…from the posts etc that i have read it does seem that a few days after the op people start thinking into what they have done but i think that’s because you can see how you look and the excitement has all gone and at that point its just a waiting game til the cast comes off. It’ll look gorgeous no doubt!! Especially as you have said it has only been changed slightly. Is your brusing and swelling starting to ease? Thanks for adding the pics too. It’s really helping me with the reality check of what i will actually be going through and look like etc. Although not sure i will look as good as you afterwards.

Alot better today, ventured out as well for a walk only to asda but felt good to get out ! Didnt really get many funny looks as I think its a bit obvious what I had down a lady asked me who served me in asda and a group of guys said whats happened to you I just said – had a nose job doesnt really bother me things like that

yes I think its just the drugs making you a bit depressed about the whole thing but have felt fine today bruising is deff getting better and quicker than I thought too, its really yellow today – about to upload some more pics !!

Everyones different you may not bruise as much as me which will be nice as I dont think mine is too bad xx

Oh my gosh Megs, you’re a brazen little soldier!! Made me giggle how upfront you’ve been, love it! Not sure how ‘out there’ I’ll be. I think I’ll be hibernating for two weeks which will no doubt send me doo lally. Looked at your new pics and love the shape of your new nose already!

What drugs do they give you? Did you take that herbal remedy that’s meant to reduce swelling? Not sure what it’s called but I’ve seen it mentioned on the forum a couple of times. Xx

Hehe I really don’t mind what people think a few people asked if i’d had an accident so you could prob get away with saying yes broke my nose ! Not everyone just presumes you have had a nose job !! Yes you can deff tell the different shape already which is exciting !! Still no pain face is very yellow today I’m going out with a friend shopping and to get my nails done still have not washed my hair been using that dry shampoo an just tying it up doesn’t look too bad !!

So want to wash my face though an the stitches are a little bit itchy today gut guess that means there healing well

Yes arnica tablets well there not really tablets like little balls smaller than smints and you just eat them taste like sugar my dad vote me some from boots !! My bruising is going really quick I’m guessing that a why !! Xx

This is great news meg! I am so happy for you, I have been ammending print outs of myself at work using a marker pen, I have several noses that I have “created” for Mr Gonschoir to look at later haha It may be worth taking the Arnica prior to your op Kaylees as this may induce healing even more. I shall ask Mr G about this later.

Meg can you not wash your face then? I guess not… can you use wipes on certain areas? OMG only five more sleeps until your stitches are out. How exciting!!! xx

so glad you re healing well meg!!i really want to take arnica and bromelain before and after surgery to help with bruising and swelling but Mr G has told me not to…he says it thins the blood which may cause complications in surgery and with recovery!!!? xxx

Really helpful listening to your blog. I had open rhinoplasty at Highgate on Thursday with Mr Gons. Again no pain and was really surprised!! The only thing that is really driving me nuts is the blocked up feeling. Also I have two little boys and my youngest finds me quite scary which is upsetting but he is getting used to it now. I had to clean myself up a bit with wet wipes underneath my nose cos of the little bit of bloody mucus etc that occassionally runs out. I wanted to ask you if your stitches are bloody and I know you have been going out lots (which I plan too in a couple of days) but I wondered if you’d been able to clean yourself up properly or if you are just putting the tissue and tape there. God if anyone looked up my nose they’d be sick! Not sure I can inflict that on Bluewater Shopping Mall!!! lol.
