hi again – i had my pre op and didnt need to give blood – she told me it depends on my answers to the medical questions…..
its natural to be scared – i even sent texts on my op day to 10 people just in case i wasnt coming back – thats how crazy i was haha

but as per my last post, i had never been to a hospital or had anaesthetic of any kind…..but its honestly fine

i just told them to keep me laughing….i had one nursing dabbing my tears and the other making me laugh so much it was surreal.

they put the canula in your hand and it literally is a scratch….then they put the stuff in and literally within seconds you’re gone and awake again……remember the happy thoughts as you go under….xx

just keep thinking of the end result….i dont think the whole event hit me till i was lying there….just stay happy and positive and make a point of telling the nurses to keep you laughing and it willbe over before you know it….
you’re listening to the girl who had to be held down when she gave blood once cos i was hysterical…and i can honestly say the ga was a breeze xx

Girls, the way to overcome your fears is all in your own mind,
you can focus on all the things that can go wrong, like not waking up, or being awake whilst under, or 100 other things.it will only make you more scared.
Or you can just focus your mind on the positive, thousands of women have it done every year, the surgeons know what they are doing and are very experienced, you will have fantastic boobs when healed,
A saying is change your breathing change your mind’
so when you do get fearful- take deep breaths , nice slow deep breathing changes your mood, fast shallow breathing is what we do when nervous or scared so it effects the oxygen in our heart and lungs and makes us feel negative .
focus on all the positive things !!!!!x

Tink7 is totally correct. I was petrified of the anaesthetic, not only because I’d had one many years ago, but also because I was very aware of the risks due to my job. BUT, it really wasn’t like I thought I was going to be. In fact, it was almost the nicest part! I fell asleep feeling drunk, then woke up all relaxed and chilled out, like I was just having a really lovely kip. It was so smooth, and the nurses were lovely, the talk to you all the time and let you know whats going on – in recovery, going up to the room, taking your BP.

Mr Traynor pointed out soemthing very astute to me – I get on the back of a motorbike almost every weekend, so compared to an anaesthetic, which is the least safe and has the biggest risk?!

You really have nothing to worry about, i have had 3 GA’s in the past from different operations and have never had any problems or reactions from them, they are completely safe otherwise they wouldnt perform them so easily. think positive and think about the end result it will all be worth it xx
