I was searching information on anesthetic as when i told my mum about me having an op, she turned around and said you can die from anesthetic, it didnt scare me as i thought thats my mums way of trying to put me of having the op- I was hoping she would support me, as she as already had a BA!

So while searching about how safe it is i come across anestheisa awareness, where people have been awake in operations, and cant move, or breath or let any one know they are awake. This scares me so much, should I be worried?

Has any one experienced this? Or know if they use brain monitoring machines?

The link i read is –

Would be good to know what others have experienced. Thanks.

oh girls, your worrying yourselves silly by reading all this, and i did exactly the same, lol!! i havent read whats in the link that you put up, but i just want to say, think of how many ba stories youve read on here, and how many say it was better than they thort, and how many say it was horrible, and they woke up during the op?? ive never read one terrifying ba story about general anethesia, and trust me, ive read loads.

they make sure they give you just enough anesthetic, and they monitor you the whole time, so if you need more, they give you more, and once its all done, they reverse the anesthetic.if you read a packet of paracetmol, theres lots of risks written down should you take them, but no one thinks twice about taking them if you get a headache etc.

try not to worry, on sofemme somewhere if you search general anesthetic, i found a post by an anesthetist, which really put my mind at rest xx

If you start looking into everything that can go wrong you will just make yourselves ill with worry.

All you need to do is be aware of the risks so that you can make an informed decision whether to go ahead with the surgery.

There is risks to everything we do in life, and if we started looking into everything then we wouldnt function.

Just be aware thats it, dont need to go into tons of detail or go looking for extra risks.

i asked the doctor about that before my op and he said its a tiny possibility but youre more likely to be hit by a car or in a plane crash.. he said he cant say it will never happen as theres a 0.0001% chance but he said it pretty much wont ever happen. and that its certainly never hppened to him or other anaesthetists he knows. do not worry ladies. i loved my anaesthetic, best sleep i ever had xx
