im having a septorhinoplasty in december, and its the most expensive type of nose surgery as its more complicated because they have to break and realign your nasal bone as well as doing other work, im having to pay £5300 :( and thats after the £300 discount!

it also takes the longest as well, between 2 and 3 hours, mines going to take 2 hour 30 mins.

as I havent had it yet I dont know if i can give you more advice lol, what did you want to know? xxx

Oh gosh, that is expensive, but yeh there is more surgery involved. How did you get that discount? Do you have breathing problems, is that why u require septorhinoplasty too? I didnt even think there was anything wrong with my breathing until i was checked by a surgeon, and then it was noticable to me too. Haha thanks for the info :) i just wanted to know anythign really, about recovery and what it entails and stuff. Is it one surgeon doing all the work together or is it two surgeons? one doing the surgery part and the other the aesthetic part? xxx

no it appears to all be one surgeon, i have dr gonschoir and he is amazing, he specialises in maxicranial ( i think its called) surgery which is reconstructive, and on top of that he has a cosmetic surgery qualification so he is perfect for me i think, as he specialises in both areas. He is really nice and listens to wehat you want, very caring understanding and gives you great care when your in hospital, they say he is a genius!

im not sure about recovery, whether its longer… i think they told me i need to keep the cast on for 12 days but i dont know much else atm, i imagine there may be more bruising than with rhino but i dont know… im very fair skinned and bruise easy so i reckon im gonna look like a monster lol.

and yeah i have had breathing difficulties through my nose since i got punched at 10 years old, ive tried to get it done on the nhs but they wont cange the cosmetic side which is also an emotional issue for me, so ive decided to get myself in more debt and have it done with MYA, but they really do seem to be the best they have been fantastic so far.

Im having my op on 10th december! im so excited bu scared. add me if you wanna have a look at my pics.

when are you thinking of having surgery/consultation?

Yehh iv heard great things about Mr Gonschoir, however he only operates in London doesnt he? im based in Liverpool you see. Yeh i think there is a little bit more bruising, haha im fair skinned myself, but im sure it will all be worth it! Are you using Mya’s payment system to pay for your surgery? if you dont mind me asking. I have added you as a friend :) so i will have alook at your pics soon, that would be great. Im thinking of having my surgery within the next few months and i have consultations book for the next few weeks :) Its all so exciting but nerve racking too!! xxx

I had a septorhinoplasty performed by Dr. Gonschoir just a couple of days ago! It was my 2nd rhino (after my first surgeon screwed up royally). The surgeon broke and reset my bridge, reduced my tip and grafted cartilage from both ears to build my bridge so i’m looking all sorts of frankenstein-ish right now! But the bruising is definitely not as bad as i thought it would be, Just some slight bruising under the eyes and swelling of my cheeks.

Initially, I was quite apprehensive about going ahead with it however, i’m feeling very happy so far with my decision.

I can’t fully see the result yet as i’ve got to keep the splint on for 12 days (although Dr. G recommended 14) so i won’t know till then.

Pain-wise, it’s not too awful. My nose feels very stuffy because of all the gauze in it (it’s to be removed 5 days post-op) and my ears are swollen and achy but overall, it’s tolerable. Plus they gave me a big bag of drugs so it’s all good :D

oh & the op also took 2.5-3 hrs

The staff & Dr.G were all fantastic, the nurses were friendly & attentive, the rooms are clean and private and the check-in & discharge process was swift & hassle-free.

I’d definitely recommend you go ahead with it. I’m very happy i have! x

hi amyc90 sorry for late reply!

I really trust dr gonschior and MYA,and im not sure if he does it in liverpool, Im going to the london clinic and i live in coventry which isnt that far really, but im not using the MYA payment system as the apr is a bit high at 17.5%, also im fresh out of uni pretty much and only have like a part time job till spring, so my parents have got out a loan in their name and ill pay them every month, i suppose they dont ant me to get in a big financial mess with it which is so nice of them! apr is 8.4% with tesco.

yeah sure have a look at my pics let me know what you think :)u need to let me know how it goes! :)

and strawbs im glad to hear you had a good experience with dr G… its getting closer now and now paid for im starting to feel nerves…its going ahead!

how is your healing going a few days on?

The healing is less painless then i though it’d be. It’s more uncomfortable than anything! I’ve still got the splint on (now 9 days post op) till thursday so i don’t know what it looks like yet. The swelling is all gone and i had zero bruising around the eyes which was really great. My ears are healing too, although a bit slower than the nose.

Other than that, i’ve been out & about as usual, going out but not drinking any alcohol yet just in case i have a bit too much and knock my face lol!

I’ll upload pre-ops and post-ops as soon as the splint comes off!
