Just seen nurse about my swollen breast and been told it’s seroma. Have to travel to doncaster on friday to have it drained. Anyone had this before? Did draining sort it out or did it happen again? how long will it take to recover? Only just got the all clear to ride and exercise again! :(

i dont know anyone who has had this. however i did have a infection and was looked after quite well at parkhill. it was inflamed then breast tissue was coming out from a tiny hole in the side of my nipple, pouring out at first. so went in and mr kazzazi then requested to see me evry 2 days to ensure it was healing and also squeeze it. i know its not the same thing but just for a bit of reassurance, i think mr kazzazi will do all he can to sort it out he was fantastic with me.

i assume as soon as the drains go in this is the first step to getting it sorted. hope you are ok hun xx

Thanks girls. Yes, the plan at first is to have a sonogram(??) to see what’s happening in there, then make an incicion to let the fluid out. Hopefully that will solve the problem. However I just read that seroma often leads to higher risk of CC :( I do NOT want more surgery, really don’t want to be in pain, and I def don’t want to lose my boobies now i’ve gotten used to them :(

Hi Newboobies…..for some reason it wont let me personal message you!

Yes I had a seroma and I cant say it was very nice at all. Now, everyone is different but I had to have it drained in the end. I will warn you now, this is not nice. So prepare yourself. Mr Kazzazi will have to squeeze the life out of the boob to release the fluid. I, too, had an ultrasound to see where the fluid was collecting. I have also been left with scar tissue where he made the incision to drain the fluid. My left breast is not perfect but I am happy to live with it as I really dont want any more messing with it. I was on antibiotics for about three weeks and was in alot of discomfort with it. Its far from perfect now. I couldnt train for 13 weeks. And the story goes on.

In terms of what to expect. You will have a scan to see where the collection of the fluid is. Mr Kazzazi wil then make an incision with what looks like a long needle and squeeze, press and push your breast to get the fluid out. I just held the nurses hand. It was over and done with in about 10 minutes. Just very uncomfortable.

I wish I could say it will be fine and it will be a pleasent experience but it wont but it will make it better.

    Hope this helps.

Oh jeez… The nurse made it sound like it was as easy as make an incicion and it all comes out by itself. Shit. 13 weeks?!!! That’s another 3 months!!!!!!! Holy crap.

    Hope you’re ok hun x

Like I said, everyone is different! Sorry, it was 13 weeks from the date of my operation. I am absolutely fine now but like I said, its not perfect but I have resigned myself to the fact that noone’s boobs are perfect, boob job or not!

It will be fine. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Anchovie. I hope there’s as little pain as poss too.. such a wimp lol.

No, I don’t have any pain at all beccy. It’s not hard either, just a bit firm. When I move about my left boob sags and bounces like normal but the right stays put. Hope you get yours sorted beccy, let me know how you get on. Mine isn’t open or oozing at all, it’s just swollen and square looking.
