Shocking!!!

Hi girls, I just wanted to share something that has concerned me slightly, my friend had her implants put in bout 4yrs ago by H.M.Group and over the last few months noticed a lump, she managed to get an appointment to check it out and her implant had ruptured! Now we are all made aware this can happen but this isn’t the shocking part, basically the supplier they had been using, a french company were basically using a type of silicone to get the ce mark and then swapping it for something else that was cheaper! I was horrified when I found out! They were used by lots of different companys in the uk, and over 40,000 women have been called, unfortunately my friend wasn’t one and she has to go through all this. The surgeon has said he will replace them for free which is good but H.M.G want her to pay for her stay and anesthetis.

Now I don’t want to put people off having the BA and im not suggesting MYA would use this supplier but just wanted to make people aware, as I know not just MYA girls come on here, I know I will still be going ahead but it has made me be more careful and aware that crazy things like this happen!

Don’t panic, girls. The implant you’re on about is manufactured by the French company PIP (Poly Implant Prothese). As Amy26 said, loads of women’s PIP implants have ruptured with severe complications and health issues because of it. But don’t panic, these implants have since been re-called. If you’ve any concerns about the implant that your surgeons use, just ask them- but there’s been such press about these PIP implants that no reputable company/surgeon would use them. But still, ask just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Hun, I didnt want to scare people but I had never heard anything about it till today.

And I know the Harley medical group weren’t to know, but was so suprised to hear they r wanting to charge my friend even tho it’s not her fault and she thought she was paying for the good implants! Xx

Yeah, don’t worry- I only saw all the articles on it last night too! I had a proper meltdown about it, cos I’ve just had my BA done a week ago. It’s really scary stuff, but the good thing is that the PIP implants were used in BAs about 5 yrs ago or longer, so now the industry know that they’re dodgy. x

I know, it proper shook me up. I’m healing well, I’m 7 days post-op now but going in the car earlier even with someone else driving was really bad. Just bumps everywhere and I’ve got home all tense from trying to keep myself still. My boobs are quite numb and all the bouncing about was really uncomfortable. Are you post-op or waiting for one? x

Amy my firend has had the PIP implants by HM 4 years ago – she is having a re aug to have them replaced x

Aww it’s not nice, my friend is so upset and worried, she just wants to get them out!

But the upside she will get new boobies xx

Thank you, I wasn’t suggesting MYA have used this company but I know other girls come on here that use other companies, plus I didn’t know too much bout PIP implants but I’m glad to hear that it’s a thing of the past
