Mario was my surgeon,he advised me to take Arnica,2 weeks before and 2 weeks after,I did’nt get any bruises at all,it depends on the surgeon, ask him,and follow his advise.xxx
I also took arnica b4 this op n after n when I had a c section and am/was fine. best check with ur surgeon or homeophath. Xx
I aaskd mr traynor and he said that there is no evidence to say arnica has any effect on bruising so don’t bother taking it. So it’s a personal response from him, but I’m a believer of homeopathic stuff so am going to take it. I checked with nurse and she said it’s safe to take but different surgeons have different opinions!!! X
i was told not too but its a personal choice i think xx
Could some1 please tell me what arnica is I am so confused.com
Arnica (Arnica montana) has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1500s and remains popular today. Applied topically as a cream, ointment, liniment, salve, or tincture, Europeans and Native Americans have used arnica to soothe muscle aches, reduce inflammation, and heal wounds. It is often the first remedy used for injuries such as sprains and bruises. Arnica in herbal form is primarily restricted to topical (external) use because it can cause serious side effects when taken internally. Arnica is often used in homeopathy, and should be taken internally only in the extremely diluted form common to homeopathic remedies. If you have any question about whether you have the herbal or homeopathic form of arnica, talk to your doctor before taking it.
I just copied and pasted that from the internet xx
basically its used to minimise bruising, however some surgeons advise against taking it as it thins your blood xx

Morning Everyone,
When deciding whether to take Arnica please consult your surgeon. They will be able to advise whether it is suitable for you. Please do not start taking it without checking with your surgeon first.
MYA
xx
I have had 2 cosmetic procedures. The first time, I didn’t take Arnica and my bruising was quite bad…..and took ages to disappear. The second time, I took Arnica and there was very little bruising.
Mario advised Me to take arnica hun… Hardly any bruising and I had it with my c section too and didn’t get one bruise xxx but I’d def ask your surgeon and see what they prefer xx
If you’re taking other blood thinners such as warfarin (especially!), aspirin, or have a history of hemorrhage, then avoid Arnica as it increases the risk of bleeding, and stitches bursting. Most people are fine with it, and the cream especially is remarkable for avoiding and reducing bruising, especially when combined with witch hazel. But unless your surgeon has specifically advised it, i would stay away. At least until 6 weeks post op when your stitches have healed up xx
