SHOWER AAHHHHH!! :)

Had my first propa shower last night and it was pure delight worth the 3 week wait xx

i had my first shower last week, after a week was to scared to move though lol x

i am on day 10 and still too scared to get in properly. I have been showering my lower body from day 2 and carefully washing arms etc but way too scared to go under properly even though the nurse said its ok now. lol!

it’s prob a daf question but do you get smaller bandages to cover the steri strips after the week check, and when you can shower is ot ok for the steri strips to be exposed? I’ scared about my strips being exposed cos my macom is rubbing on the scars already with the padding still on

No, the nurse just put the steri strips on and away i went. Yeah the macom is rubbing on the scars and i had to take it off last night to sleep. I have some little pads to put in for my nips too.

The nurse said to me that it is ok to get the steri strips wet but try not to get soap etc on them and afterwards try them off with a hairdryer on a cool setting lol

Then at the end of the week i can soak them off and thats it.

Great, thanks, I have soe of that hibiscrub shower gel so I’ll use that for a few days to make sure I don’t get infection, can’t wait to have shower now. Do the steri strips still cause itching or did that stop when the dressings came off?

I had 2 have my dressing reviewed at 2 weeks and again at 3 weeks so I was showering my bottom half for 3 weeks an to just stand there an not have 2 worrie about getting anything wet was great xx

Yeah i got some of that sanex no perfume, sensitive stuff as the nurse said to use something like that or simple. I think Cuks said she used the savlon antiseptic wound wash spray on the scars after a shower and she never had an infection so i might use that advice after. x
