shower/bath

I am 9 days po. I cant have a bath but can have a shower? Is that right?

I couldn’t only shower my bottom half until 2 weeks PO then the nurse told me I could wash my top and take the strips off xx

I’ve just been going in a shallow bath and using a flannel for my top half xxx

Yer thats what Ive been doing Natasha. Miss having a proper bath so much!

I know I’m gutted too, busy house like mine never got chance to relax but feel I could do with one now lol xx

I didn’t have a shower so had to have shallow baths up to my belly button and then used a flannel for top half and got my boyfriend to get a bucket and pour water over me lol, I didn’t have a proper soak till 8 weeks post op and my god it was amazing xxx

Nurse told me at my 8day check up that I could shower but not use any products only antibacterial soap and not too put it on the incisions, and pat them dry after xx

I’m gutted I can’t have a shower my next check up is next Friday I hope I can after that. I love the bath but not that bothered as I know you can’t properly bath until 6 weeks I would be too scared to bath before that Incase they got infected but fingers crossed I can have a shower after next Friday xx

I’ve been showering since my 7 day post op check up. I have steri strips on my incision and I just have to change them after each shower.

Yer thats what nurse told me India, but Im scared of aggravating incisions so Im just sticking to shallow baths

I have been fine so far, the water sortof just runs over my boobs so doesn’t really get on the incisions much! x

Ah yer I never thort of that India.

As long as you don’t get your incisions wet you will be fine to shower or bath but I’d say shower is safer due to less steam causing moisture near the area where the incision is. I’d say gradually build up the amount of water you fill in bath too soon can cause infection if the area is getting soaked or wet
