I’m 12 days post op and had my dressings removed today. Been given the all clear to have a shower and this might be a stupid question but are you allowed to get soap on your incisions? Didn’t think to ask the nurse! Thanks girls Xx

My nurse recomended using baby bath stuff as its very mild on the skin for the first few weeks. Anything that is scented isnt recommended for risk of infection xx

Also no exfoliation products near your incisions, just avoid touching them, and let water run over it xx

I just lightly patted them dry with a towel hun. Sanex should be ok, I used johnsons baby bath which was lovely and used it til I hit 6 weeks and I have been fine with my scars healing really well :-) xx

I just used normal shower gel from 1 week on, at first i didnt get soap on cuts just water but after couple of week I just let the water and bubbles run over the scars rather than actually cleaning them with any sort of flannel or sponge. Then let them dry naturally before dressing. Mine have healed fine :)

I didn’t wash right under mine just let the water run over them I still don’t use products on them now, mine are tucked quite underneath, just pat dry with a clean towel

Thank you girls. That’s what I’m worried about, duno whether to let soap run over them or just water to start with. Want them to be clean but don’t wanna irritate the scars! Think I will get some johnsons baby soap then just to be safe xx
