Just wondering, I am 7 days post op. Been to see the nurse today And she said everything is healing well and scars are looking like their are healing well!! Except for my blisters!!!! Lol. Anyway, not to worry abt that, whAt I really want to know is how long do I have to sleep sitting up-looking like a corpse????? I forgot to ask her!!!! My bum, despite being huge will not take much more of this!!!!

The only reason they tell you to sleep sitting up is cus at first you won’t be used to the weight of them, and can cause difficulty breathing whilst you’re asleep. So you can sleep flat when you’re comfortable with the weight. I’d put some pillows by your sides so you don’t roll onto your side when you sleep though xx

I slept upright for first 5 days then on my back and then started sleepibg on my side at 2 weeks.

Thanks Samantha, pillows by my side sounds like plan!!! I’m not usually a heavy sleeper, so hopefully won’t roll over. Besides when you have a 3 yr old thrashing abt next to u, u tend to be on alert all night!! Lol. Laura, do you find that you can feel hard lumps in front of u or have urs softened now??? Prob sounds like a random question but just wanted to ask….

Hiya … I asked this question at my one week post op check when strapping came off and nurse advised I could sleep flat from then on but I didn’t sleep flat straight away because I wanted my bruising to go down more as I heard sleeping upwards is something to do with the bruising too. I slept at an angle but more flat if that makes sense and eventually at 2 weeks onwards I slept flat. At 5-6 weeks post op I started sleeping to the side too.

Thanks zena. That’s exactly what I was thinking to do.. That will help me to relax a little and stop scaring my children when they walk in and see me asleep upright!!!! Lol. I am normally a side sleeper too so can’t wait for that luxury. Xx
