xxxjoxxxand lynz28 both smoked but said it delayed their healing process.

Im a 15 a day girl and will smoke right up to the BA and have 20 on the morning of the BA. Then gonna try and cut right down to 5 a day.

I just want the healing to go ok. xxxxx

I hav to admit, I carried on smoking, had one of the morning of the op and then one in the car on the way home, I cut down to about 4 a day after op mainly cuz I felt rotten. I was worried about the healing but touch wood seem to be ok, it’s such a stressful time I found it very hard to stop……naughty naughty :/

I tried to give up and failed miserably, although i did cut down a lot a week before my op…it didn’t help that on the day of my op i left my cigs at home and the nurse told me it was ok to go have one – she even found me a cig! That was it then, once i was home i prob smoked more…i do believe it made my healing process longer though so if you can stop or even cut down it will benefit you xx

I am down to 3 a day now only ever smoked about 10 a day tho, Wishing I could give up but its hard, my partner and most of my friends smoke and I find if I tell myself I cant have one I want one more grrrrrrr x

    Menu

hey hun, i couldnt give up smoking :-| my willpower got up and left me and i ended up with wound tension, im 9 weeks post op 2day and still have a tiny lil scab rite where the wound tension was, i have a couple of pics on my profile of it and its not a pretty sight, who knows, i may have managed to give up and still end up havin wound tension but my surgeon and my nurse both warned me of the dangers of delayed healing after surgery whilst smoking. everyone is different though but i think its better to be safe than sorry, and i think my pics have put a few girls off smoking after surgery xx if we arent friends already i will send u a request and u can have a lil look and see for ursel xx

    Menu

wowwwwwwww didnt expect that linz28. Was it sore? so basically wound tension is where it slightly pops open at one end?? But other than that your boobs look great hun :-) x x

    Menu

Ahh hun, did you find you were in alot of pain? I dont personally think they look terrible but that is definatly a big incentive to give up as I have to go back to work the week after the op so really want the healing to go as fast as poss. I dont think unless you see the difference in the healing process that it hits home about smoking and you just carry on thinking it will be fine.

Thanks hun :) today will be the day, I will let you know how I get on xxx

    Hi girls, I smoked.

I actually hid how much I smoked because I was scared of getting a telling off.

I smoked before, the morning of the op, the night after the op and every day after that.

Everyone on here knows what a fantastic recovery I’ve had and my scars are amazing. Healed so tight and neat.

SO! Although there may be some evidence to suggest it’s best you stop smoking. I didn’t and I’m just dandy oh :)

    xx

    Menu

it wasnt sore and as i say, everyone is different, im still smoking and was still smoking wen i had my op, one incision healed perfectly, the other didnt. its really personal choice whether you quit or not but i kinda wish id made more of an effort to stop cuz now i will never know if that was the true cause of my wound tension or not. i may be only one of the small minority of ppl that didnt heal as well as expected and i will never know if my healing was due to smoking. i certainly didnt think i would have any problems with healing wen i was pre op so i carried on as normal.

claireybabes… im well jel of ur scars hun they look fabbbb!

    Menu

oh no I was all set for giving up :) but then clairey your right you healed amazing so I guess if I did cheat with the odd cig then I shouldn’t be to hard on myself its that morning one I just cant seem to get past, lynz we will never no hun hmpf is all I can say lol :) xx
