Did anyone smoke before and after their surgery? I’m finding it very difficult to give up. I have only smoked 3 today but I know I have to give up completely. Anyone else who was the same and if I cut down will that be enough or do I NEED to stop completely? Xx

I was told by the pc that I need to stop smoking completely. She even mentioned that one patient had a op cancelled on the day because they did a smoking test on her breath and she still had nicotine in her body. I don’t understand why we need to give up smoking. I have had 4 GA’s in my life and I wash mocking until the last minute and then the following day of the op, so I don’t understand the fuss about it! My BA is only in Jky but I am dreading the stop smoking 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after! X

Hey girlies I’m a med student and from my own knowledge in the field I’d really recommend quiting pre op because it can delay wound healing because it lowers blood flow, oxygen and affects the things in the body involving with the healing process itself. I understand its hard but think how much youv wanted the op, dont let smoking get in the way of your perfect boobs :) :o)
