smoking

im 31 i have always felt deformed and want a boob job but am frightened i have got 4 kids i smoke i am trying to cut down its the only thing holding me back im wondering has any smokers had the procedure done ? has anybody my age had it done?am i being selfish .

:wink:Hi Vicki I have heard that with breast enlargement it is less important than say a breast uplift of reduction. I think it depends on the surgeon. You are best off having a consultation and they can discuss it face to face. Best of luck hun xxx

i have had a consultation they advised me to stop all i need to do now is commit to a date the last 2 dates i had went there and cos i had a cold and bad chest it was post poned has anyone out there had it done who does smoke how did u get on

I had my op 3 days ago. I am a smoker and they told me I needed to stop b4 the op. I have tried many times, but the nore I try the more I smoke! I smoke about 15 a day. I tried cutting down b4 the op but it just didn’t happen. I told myself that I wouldn’t smoke on the day of the op but I still did! They said that if you are a smoker then there is more bleeding and the heeling process takes longer. When you have the op you have drains attached 2 u for any fluids or bleeding. I hardly had any so I don’t think smoking affected it at all! I can’t tell wheather its slowed down my heeling process as has only been 3 days. I think its just different 4 every1. I have beeb smoking for 4 years now. Hope this helps! Xxx

In my consultation they said it does prevent healing. I tried to cut back as much as possible x

thankyou liz that really helps let me know how u go. thanks nicalola have u had ur op ? how many did u get down 2 i have been smoking 12 years 2 long silly me but just cant stop !what size did u both go 2 im a 36a and prob just go up to ac which will look quite natural i hope xx

hey vickil… hopethis helps…i had my surgery on friday! really pleased with them! but the day after my surgery i started smoking again… stupid i know, and i’ve smoked since…i feel fine, nothing majorly bad. i wouldnt worry too much about it! xxx

Basically nicotine constricts your blood vessels, so less blood gets to where it needs to to help you heal. It can also really increase the risk of capsular contracture, so it’s really important to at least get down to just a couple of cigarettes a day if you can’t quit completely. Think of it like this though – do you want to risk wrecking your gorgeous new boobs for a few fags?!

(And yes, I’m a smoker who’s struggling to quit!!)
