My op is this week and I have a bloody cold. It’s not full blown and I’m praying it doesn’t get any worse, just worrying they will cancel it…

Hi ladies, I managed to get over my cough with only a couple of days to go but my surgeon said they only don’t operate if you are coughing stuff up or have a temp, everything else should be fine! x

I had sniffles too babe don’t get too worried. I think to be honest as long as you don’t have a temperature or fever or high blood pressure you’ll be fine cos they check all that pre op, only thing I WILL say is.. If you have a cough, or a sore throat or mucus, it’s gunna really hurt you after the op as you’ll be tight in the chest and coughing really hurt me the day after my op :(! I found I was extra effected by any smells or tastes in the air and everything made me feel the need to clear my throat, and I had a coughing fit Monday morning the day after my surgery sat in the hotel lobby my tea went down the wrong way and that was painful 🙁 Until I had my strapping off I couldn’t take deep breaths so you can imagine :\.. I hope you’ll be ok babe <3 xxxxx

Thanks ladies, fingers crossed! I don’t have a cough but I have a really bad sore throat right now so am trying to have as much honey and lemon as possible. My op is on Friday so have a few days for it to clear up. Good luck Kirsty x

I asked about this at my pre op and the nurse said they way up the pros and cons. But she said that unless you are quite ill it’s quite likely they will still go ahead because it’s a relatively quick and easy operation ( this is for a BA not sure what you are having). She also said if this happened ring the clinic or your PC and they can advise so maybe you could contact them to get peace of mind . But I wouldn’t worry too much chick 🙂 xx
