So so upset, op date POSTPONED.

I was due to be having my BA with Dr Adamo on the 1st Feb. I’ve had it booked for a while now and have been getting super excited as the date gets closer.

I BOOKED TIME OFF WORK.

I have now rung work saying it’s likely it will be the week after I need off and I could I swap it, but they said they have already arranged a replacement so I shall recieve the first week off paid but the second week I SHALL NOT BE PAID.

Which means I have now lost out on a weeks wages of £400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so upset and angry as well £400 is alot of money.

Anyway, the reasoning behind it.

My PC contacted me toly day to inform me my op has been postponed. MYA wrote to my GP who wrote back stating that I used to a suffer from an eating disorder. Yes I did, but I have been fully recovered now for almost 3 YEARS. Apparently mr Adamo has requested for a letter from the service I used to recieve treatment from.

I fully understand this is for health reasons, I am not disputing that. However, I am angered that this could not have been resolved sooner. The only reason I was informed of this today was because I RANG my PC to ask about upgrading to the soft touch implants! If I hadn’t rang would I have been informed about my op date being postponed?!

This has caused a massive inconvienance to me both in time and MONEY.

Aww that’s not good at all If you ring the centre yourself and push the letter through it might be done a lot faster meaning you could keep the same date? Things always work faster when you do it yourself xxx

Is there a way for you to get the letter and get it to them sooner?

I contacted the service who said they need to recieve a letter from MYA first stating what they need to hear. I rang my PC back and told her this and she said she will get the nurse to send it out ASAP but it is a very slim chance I will be able to keep my date of 1st Feb.

On the work issue hun, is it a usual thing for this to happen if you cancel hols? Seems harsh

Hey hun, really feel for you. My op is tomorrow in Preston with Mr traynor and I got a call off the nurse only today to say they’ve had a letter back from GP this morning with info about an eating disorder (also many years ago) and depression. Have sat all day panicking about whether it’ll go ahead or not and finally the nurse has just rang me and told me that I will be going to the hospital tomorrow and my surgeon will have ‘a chat’ with me before surgery. So I sincerely hope it will go ahead smoothly! Would hate to get all the way there and not come out with boobs!

I think it’s really bad that theses things are not sorted weeks before our opp date not just days before. You get your self all prepared for the day then to be dissapointed and like you said its not only that it’s taking the time off work unpaid. You have paid enough for your boibies to start with without having to go a week with no wage. Really hope this gets sorted and nanette I hope yours goes ahead. Got my fingers crossed for you both xxx
