Starting to worry about aftercare.

I’ve heard too many stories about bad aftercare, and it’s starting to worry me

MYA have been amazing ever since my first consultation, my PC is a darling and constantly in contact, my surgeon is brilliant.

Now I’m scared that as soon as I’ve given them my money and had the op they’re not going to care.

Is this the case for everyone or just an unlucky few?

I’ve been a bit worried too, read a few posts over the last week or so about poor aftercare and it is a concern. Especially as we’re all paying so so much money. I did speak to my PC today about my concerns and she did reassure me that I will be looked after after op. However, I’m not due for my op yet (20th Jan) so will just have to wait and see. xxx

i’ve had 2 ba’s with MYA London and both times my aftercare has been amazing

MYA have been brilliant with my aftercare, when i had my first consultation i paid in full the next day i am 14 weeks post op and mya still ring me to see if im ok, i think there brill, and i can’t fault them at all, so its just the odd few that unfortunatly not got much aftercare, hope this reassures you x

brill for me so far. mya have even written to the hospital i had my ba at to complain on my behalf as i waited 9 hours in my room til i had the opp. they sent me a recorded delivery letter on monday to update me on what is going on x

i just have to say girls that it may be good but will it be as good if we had a serious problem im about to find out as ive bottomed out one side im seeing mr singh tom should have been today but he cancelled. i hope they can help me im totaly devastated.xx

If they dont sort it seek legal advice. Seen a company on tv fir claims if cosmo goes wrong xx

I also had great aftercare so far. My PC also rings me every other week to see if I am ok, having all my post op check ups as planned and cannot say a bad word about them x

hi,all i had my ba last june 2010,mr traynor was brill at manchester,but i have to say,as soon as i paid my balance i never spoke or saw my pc again.so all i want to say from my point off view is mya aftercare is rubbish,since ive had my ba,i have had 1 phone call from nurse,and seen mr traynor once so im so glad nothing as gone wrong,i would recommend mr traynor but not mya,for aftercare.

My aftercare is brill just know that they are there for when YOU need so after the 6wks check they will stop calling. Just make sure you use to the fullest and call if you ever have a prob and all will be sorted. I thought that but then nurse told me it’s me that had surgery so after 6 wks if all is ok at appt then they won’t see the need to contact unless I feel there is a prob. x

hi,mya moderator,my pc was brill when i first went to clinic,could not help me enough,but as soon as i phoned and paid in full i never spoke or seen her again,she said she would phone me before my opp,never did, I had my ba on the 17 june,2010 at manchester she never even phoned or text to see how i was,i had to phone and leave a message when ever i wanted her,but she never got back to me.I went to have bandage off,with nurse she was fab but yet again my pc was not there to see how i was,just seen nurse made an appointment to see mr traynor then went.Went back at just over 6 week to see mr traynor he was fab i have to say,would recommend him.i dont even no if i have to go back for any more checks,dont think i do unless i have any problems,so i think the aftercare i got was poor,it was a lot off money to spend,and like a lot on hear have said once you pay they dont want to no,its like they get commision on who ever as an oppand its not fair.

aww sammie that doesnt sound good I got a phonecall from my nurse yesterday (1 day post op) my PC called me today, which I was NOT expecting and then a nurse manager, i think she might have been from England, phoned me and my normal clinic nurse gave me a text also….so far Glasgow MYA have been pretty good, I hope they stay this way lol

Hi ladies I just added a forum scare post op 4 days. Ha to go to my local clinic tonight to get my swelling checked as I had some concerns, the nurse to come in and check she gave me a thorough check and answers all my worries , so at present happy with the aftercare only hopes it continues xx

I don’t know about after care but pre op, for me, hasn’t been fantastic.

First I met my pc and she was so nice, I was really nervous but she put me at ease straight away. She booked me in to see a surgeon and when I got there, there were 3 of us there with the same appointment time. After an hour, I had to leave and so I asked to rebook but it hasn’t been done yet.

I have an appointment with another surgeon in a few weeks, I was given 2 dates to choose from and have now been told that 4 of us have the same appointment time again. When I asked to change to the second date, was told that although at the moment there are no other patients on that day, when the day comes I will definitely be sharing my appointment time with others.

So it looks like whatever surgeon I see, he or she will always be overbooked. Does this mean I will be rushed. It’s not on. When you pay so much for private, you should at least have an appointment time to yourself.x

What clinics are u girls at? Im at newcastle cannot fault them other than the lack of communication bout manchester closing xxx

I had a phonecall from my PC a day after my operation to see how I got on and haven’t heard from her since. I’ve no major issues with this as I would rather medical attention, (important after a major operation), which my nurse (EMMA)at the Manchester Clinic has provided and continues to look after me post-op, she has been amazing and I am able to contact her anytime which I have done and she has returns my calls / texts promptly. xxx

I have had calls from both my Pc and nurse post op. There was a mix up with my nurse appy but it was just rescheduled for the next day with a fountain of apologies.

As I left even the PC said that if needed anything at all just to call her and the nurse had already given me her mobile number as well as all the other numbers.

So far so good x

my aftercare was wonderful at MYA. Nothing was ever too much trouble for my PC and nurse and I have a great result. I didnt expect mya to be calling me every 5minutes, I just knew they were there if I needed anything. xx

I never said I wanted mya to phone me ever 5 min,but once is not to much to ask,like I said the nurse was brill and so was mr traynor,just thought with us spending all that money the pc could at least give you a text or a call after your opp,I’ve not heard one word since I paid my balance,think it’s a joke,x
